Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Just did a flight across South Africa in an A321 and had everything on max (and I mean everything) - I got a steady 20-25FPS. Will turn some of the unwanted stuff off like thermals and put some tweaks in to improve further.

This is on an x2 4800, 2GB RAM and XTX1900. This is how the game should have been when they released it the first time, it looks and plays fantastic now. :D

Will it's working a treat on my 7600GT.... in 1920x1200!

So 8800's should scrape by. :D

But remember it CPU is more important. The overclocked Core 2 Duo guys will love this. :)

I've got to figure out how to get my E6300 above the standard 1.86GHz. Best I get over to the OC forum. Still, it runs very well and I can confidently estimate more than 50% performance and/or detail increase.
 
is this game worth getting then as i tryed it with the demo ages ago and it was fun and my system seemed to handle it fine with the max res i can get out of my monitor (1280*1024) can get the game now for £20 of the jungle place
 
Few noob questions

Just got this and a x52 stick
How do u display fps? is there any must have mods and skins and are there any good fsx sites/forums ?

Also is it possible to set the aircraft trims to the dials on the x52 throttle stick ?

ohohoh nvidia and microsoft are a dangerous combo...

I install sp1.
Launch fsx, preview of plane looks so much better and smoother, so i said wow, i try a free flight, loading....
Once loaded my pc locks up for 20 seconds, no signs of life, frozen sound, frozen everything, afetr 20 secs fsx crashes and i have like 4 colours in windows @ 640x480, windows saying nv4.dll or somit crashed and system has to be shut down to and to save all my stuff..., so pc reboots as usually when i pressed ok, and giving me error that windows has restored from a fatal error once booted next time, i send the report to MS, ms site is saying reinstall gfx drivers...


Anyone else has trouble with latest nvidia 6xxx and 7xxx drivers for xp32 and fsx?

shift-z twice to get fps
good sites i think are flightsim.com (good for files, has like top files for yesterday, all year etc) or avsim.com (good forums)

as for must have mods, dunno rly, depends what your into, i only use a couple little ones for runway lights, water and strobe lights

there are loads of scenery out there

i/m lookin for a aircraft damage mod for fsx, like there was for fs2004, no luck yet tho :(

it is possible to set trim to the x52 dial but couldnt get it to work properly, super sensitive, would never stay still, even messes up the autopilot

Settign trim to the mouse wheel on the back of the throttle now, only did it last night tho so still getting used to it, but seems cool

Really enjoying it so far , gonna continue with the missions today, downloaded a few skins/models off flightsim.com
Any 1 tried the FSX F-22 ThunderRaptor ?
Dunno if i installed it wrong but it looked pants and there was no glass on the cockpit :s this is there number 2 download of the year aswell , The 747 in easy jet colours looks class tho :)

Can any 1 recommend a good fighter jet model ?

I got the deluxe version this morning - not running very well on my 8800GTS, e6600, 4gig DDR2 though! That's even with the patch. Starting to think I must have some kinda dodgy hardware conflict somewhere! Didn't seem any better with the patch than without it :confused:
 
Cool, I'll try and match my settings up with yours a bit later - see how I get on. Gotta watch the FA Cup final first :) I've got a feeling my ram is a problem though. I bought two sets of 2 gig OCUK DDR2 ram at different times - and they don't appear to be the same brand. Might be the issue
 
For anyone thinking of getting this but being put off by the price there's a guy on an auction site selling the Deluxe version for £25 delivered as opposed to the £60 it costs in the shops.

I ordered one as I was fed up with the trial version timing out on me. It arrived today and it's a genuine sealed DVD copy.

Bargain!!! :D
