Microsoft Flight Simulator X

FSX is really starting to tempt me now. I am an FS fan and have 2004 at the moment, not played for about 10 months though. :p

Just unsure of how it will run, as my 7800GTs are staring to feel outdated and slow :o

Spec in sig, and ideas?

I've tried Kezmo's settings and it's still not running very well. It's smooth at high altitudes, but anything below 2,000 feet and it starts to stutter a bit. Think I'll try taking the other 2 gig out and see if that makes a difference

More than I've got and I run FSX SP1 very well. System is Intel C2D E6300, 2GB RAM and X1900XT 512MB on Vista 32bit.

SLi doesn't work IIRC. Or not very well.

Better off with one card, im gonna try crossfire on FS-X tho.

I can't get anything higher than around 15fps when sitting on the runway at Chicago O'Hare and most other big'ish airports. I've just tested the ram and that seems fine. Doesn't seem to make any difference with 2gig or 4gig  Judging from the FPS count I'm only just hitting 28-30fps at the best of times when at 20-30,000 feet

Hmmmm Ill be needing a new graphics card soon. Need to save up some cash, then maybe ill give FSX a go.

My SLi doesn't work anyway... well it does at desktop but when i load games up such as Oblivion and Stalker, the screen goes all flickery with red lines etc.

Hmm, I'm getting better than that with substantially less than your spec. Something definitely not right there. Since SP1 I've never experienced such rich scenery detail.

Those screen shots from airports dont look that much more detailed than those of airpors in FS2004

But FSX looks far superior when in the air, looking down on the ground textures.

Ooo, where did you get that?
FS Freeware but there's a variety of FSX sites running mirrors so take your pick. It's a bit noisey, it has a virtual cockpit without interaction but flies fine and looks fantastic. Not bad for the first effort. I look forward to a polished version.

You're right but when you get close to the detail, it really does have detail, a much higher polygon count and superior surface colours. It's just altogether a much richer experience than FS2004. I don't regret flogging my copy of FS2004 for a minute.

Gawd, I have no idea whats going on. Been playing around with all kinda things in the BIOS, changed the nvidia drivers - still can't get more than around 12fps sitting on the runway at O'Hare!

What are your specs?

e6600, 8800 GTS 640meg, 4gig DDR2, 250gig HD. I've just tried running it in 1024x768 instead of 1680x1050 and I get exactly the same framerate :D

Set AA and AF to app controlled and enable in game? and FPS limit to Unlimited? Reduce Autogen one step from max.

As for the Concorde.

SSTSIM is much better, but no-one can get the shape right :( Its close but not right lol

Something seriously isn't right there then! I don't know what to suggest as i don't have FSX, but low FPS with that system doesn't seem right. I think i got more than that in the demo!
