Microsoft Flight Simulator X

How much "better" is FSX than FS9, please? My setup is having a bit of trouble getting decent performance on FSX and I am wondering if it is worth me purchasing a (now cheaper) copy of FS9?

I read somewhere for the same system, you will get the same frame rate in FS9 at max settings that you will do in FSX @ low settings?

There are loads of people dumping their FS9 scenery packs etc on the Bay, I'm thinking if FS9 isn't too much worse (with addons) maybe I'll invest and play it for a year or so until I get round to upgrading my system (currently saving for wedding, hence little cash :p)..
FSX with SP1, My TrafficX, VFR Genx Photo Scenery and Active Sky X is just awesome. Well worth the pain of nursing the settings for your system. I don't regret 'baying my FS9 for a minute.

hi

i keep getting a message that says, your pc has run out of avalible memory.

i running it on vista 64bit and have plenty of hd space and 2 gig of ram

there is something on microsoft that tells you how to solve it but the instructions are for xp and they are different on vista .

can anyone help?

thanks

I don't use Vista myself but have you checked what other processes your running in the background?

Also do you run Vista off a separate Hard Drive to FSX, if so have you got enough space for a large page file?

Has anyone been able to make it to Mali in the limited options mission? The copilot says it is easily doable with no engines but I always ditch about 5 miles from the island :( I follow the VOR perfectly and keep IAS at 192 all the way (-17-1800 fpm)

Yep, turned 90 to the left and headed towards that island, I think I was doing about 200/210 knots @ 2000FPM IIRC.

I had about 3000/4000 feet left once I was ~ 5 miles from the runway.

anybody got any idea when dx10 patch is out, done a reinstall of vista but gonna wait i think for the patch because i dont think u can install fsx a lot of times on to the pc.and i think i have done it loads of times now and i dont want the prob i had with windows when i can only install a few times which sucks a lot.

is that the one where you are transporting a celebrity? I landed on the carrier

Is it possible to re-install FSX after a major hardware upgrade and jump from XP to vista? or are MS games now locked to the hardware you activated it on now?
ie, do I have to purchase FSX again.

Anyone here running at 1900x1200 on Vista 64 with a HD2900XT card and similar spec to mine. Cant seem to get more than 10-15 fps if im lucky. Thats with sp1 installed and all addons turned off.

Wander if it purely the resolution thats killing it, as reducing all the sliders to the left in-game just gives me about 5fps more.

I've done it without any problems with activation.

Why so high resolution? I've got a Sony 21" monitor and I run it at 1280 perfectly fine. Unfortunately FSX isn't HalfLife so you'll have to wind it down a bit.

Is that a 21" CRT your using?

I've tried other 16:10 resolutions but its just blurs everything. Need to keep at Native Res for this TFT monitor which is 1900x1200.
