Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Played for a couple of hours but I am struggling with it. Getting owned too often and getting a little fed up because of it. I will persist though and it is graphically impressive.

Unlike Assassins creed and Batman sometimes in this you need to leg it and find safety otherwise you get swarmed.

Aye, especially early on when you don't have enough abilities to realistically survive a group of uruk, let alone a captain or worse in there too. The archers and spearmen are easily the most dangerous enemies as you have to dodge to avoid being hit, which annoyingly, screws up your combo generation.

Use stealth as much as you can and you'll find ways of doing most things on it.

I accidentally dived into a group of uruk with a captain :/ yeah I didn't last very long

The jaggies in this at 1080p are horrible. Hopefully NVIDIA will release an updated driver soon so I can play at 4k and kill the jaggies (getting 45-50fps at 4k at the moment with sli 970s)

Yeah, 1080's a bit nasty.
Res scaling works well and removes most of the aliasing for me.

Fwiw, all maxed with textures set to high @200% (faux 4k) scaling looks and runs pretty sweet with 2 cards.

Surprised that you don't get an even better version of that with native 4k.

Sorry should have said I'm not using native 4k. I'm at 1080p using dsr to downscale from 4k

Starting to have to run away from a few fights, which can be a little frustrating if you are trying to take out a named guy but during the fight more and more names guys keep turning up all the time.

Mind you, you can end up having some epic fights when numbers get big :)

lol just how the hell do you kill that 15ft thing? I went up to it for closer examination as you do and got slapped into a nearby rock.

Quite surprised at how good performance i'm getting so far. Using a 2500k @4.5 and a 7850 and am seeing 40-70fps so far. All settings on high including textures apart from ambient occlusion on medium @1080p. I expected to have to turn a few things down.

The only time I get frame dropping is when I am in the wraith mode but its only slight.

Not sure if its worth locking the FPS to 30 or keeping it at 60?

any suggestions?

Loving this game so far, it's like Witcher but I prefer this combat and the fact that it's LOTR. Got swamped by three captains last night, need to figure out how to battle one without others getting involved.

Gonna try luring my battles into small remote areas

Do you really need a 6GB gfx card for the texture pack? I have a 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB, worth trying it or?
