Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Ah, ha ha ha ha. Awesome. The bunfight in the comments is brilliant.

Article summary:
looks ace on PS4, looks ace on PC, if you have a super high end PC, can look even ace-r at high res. Everyone should be pleased.

Comments summary:
> Lolz Ps4 sux. A $22 PC can run this at 4k 200FPS, and the game cost me 12 pence.
> Nuh-uh, PS4 rulez, PC costs $10,000 to run this at half the FPS. PS4 is perfect and I can resell the game for 187% of the original cost.
etc etc

Loving this at the moment! The nemesis system is a lot of fun when you're avenging your mates on your Steam list especially :)

As for the whole texture situation, I've not been able to get Ultra textures working smoothly on the 980 GTX at 1440p, so I'm not sure how others are managing it magically. Maybe people just have low standards of what to expect or are ok with the hitching. The VRAM usage almost instantly tops out! Looks just as great with High though.

Without derailing the topic too much. Should we all be considering 6GB+ cards for the future, or are these type of requirements likely to be exceptions to the norm? I wonder if this is a trend due to cross platform design with the new consoles....

The immediate future? No.

For 4k gaming in the next year or two - Yes.

Anyone know why this game dips to exactly 30fps when it's set to 60fps or unlimited on frame rate option? It's like the game can't decide what its doing and jumps between 30fps then 60fps...

Whens crossfire going to work in this game.

It already does with a small amount of fiddling. Not sure why AFR friendly doesn't work for you though.

In case you missed AMDMatt's post in the gpu section, target ShadowOfMorder.exe and apply the Lost Planet 2 (DX11) profile.

This gives slightly better fps than AFR friendly and a lot less menu flicker.

I found I got more frame rate dips using the AFR method than with crossfire disabled. Might try the lost planet one but don't hold much hope tbh.

It wouldn't surprise me.
This is just a workaround until they (hopefully) get their **** together and sort out proper profiles, so it's not gonna be perfect for a little while yet at least.

Any one know where the opening videos are saved, need delete them as the time it takes to load is way to long for my liking.

any links to tweaks cheers ! would like to change fov.

Just had a look there, seems it is only able to be done using cheat engine just now, and it forces it permanently. So when you use the bow it doesn't change.. I would wait until something is enabled in the options.

Took a gameplay video earlier if you want to check it out (captain fight and some caragor hopping :))

^Because youtube compression is bloody awful, though compression still ruins the quality on DM as well but not as bad.

Very fun game, lore is a bit questionable but I'm looking past that even as an avid Lotr fan. Graphics are great (ultra textures) and buttery smooth 60fps lock maxed out.

Played about 7 hours now & keep getting distracted by the things to do.

One minute I try to advance the story line, the next I'm taking down Captains I've stumbled across and then onto a few Vengeance kills for my Steam buddies (great idea btw).

Enjoying it immensely but I am a Tolkien fan.

I have some vids up on Twitch for you to view.
