Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Seems to be a fair bit of buzz about this lately, so is it worth playing? Someone gave me a steam key yesterday I might give it a shot.

Took me about 6 hours to dl... 34 gb... holy moly!

Put it the USB hard drive, don't have that much space on the SSD, will copy it over when I've finished the current game I'm playing and delete.

Picked this up on Steam on Thursday night - bit overwhelming at first never having played anything in this kind of genre, but gradually getting the hang of it. Stealth kills are great fun and incredibly therapeutic - struggling a bit with fights against more than a couple of enemies as I keep forgetting to execute them when they're on the ground and stunned. Stupid really as all I need do is bind a Naga or Nostromo button to the left-shift and it's right under my damn thumb ...

Yes I know that, I must have killed 30 to 40 captains now, but more just keep appearing as silhouettes all the time. Feels like you don't get anywhere and pointless going after his army.

Not entirely true. If left to their own devices they will level up through various conflicts and events. Your constant pruning is keeping them low level.

Don't they need to be higher level to get better upgrades for your sword/bow/dagger?

Great, after the intro and all that. Game starts to load, Windows gives me a memory warning issue and the game crashes. I have everything set to ultra, solid 60fps, max 90 in the benchmark... Annoying

I got that exact same thing Agnes the very first time I played it. It was at the point when you forge your sword at the very first intro screen. Since then I've not seen it once, and running the Ultra preset straight out the box, crossfire working flawlessly now also which is great thx to AMDmatt and his profile work arounds

Wow, just got my arse handed to me.

I went after a warchief and he showed up with 4 captains, all of whom were archers, one had poison arrows, the warchief himself was invulnerable to stealth, ranged and vaults over the top. My health just vanished in seconds after I took a hit and got barraged with arrows.

They all levelled up quite a bit after I died so I'm going to have to take them out one by one. Really starting to get into this now :)

yeh one of the captains i have is power lvl 25 now... cant touch him need to use other orc to k ill him but ive culled all of them to like lvl 13 range...

worst ive hand is 10 captains at once.......

Tried "The Pit" mission, someone will have to revenge me lol.

Think I got half a dozen down before I was splattered. I need more health from drain etc runes I think, currently have no way to regen health in combat or on the move other than plants or hiding!

That "last chance" ability where you can try to deflect the killing blow is fantastic though :D

yeah it is, I just wish there was a perk that allowed for more time in that mode. At times, you dont even get chance to move the analogue stick into the circle let alone hitting the button. So far I've not seen any perk that improves that ability.
