Military coup in Turkey?

That speech from Erdogan sounds to me like the plea of a desperate man? I'm no expert in this, I'm an accountant, but surely encouraging your citizens onto the street against an armed security force doesn't sound like something a responsible leader would do.

Its fascinating that they seem to have planned this meticulously - taking action when the top government officials were on holiday or on other engagements out the country/capital, taking over the airport, etc. to make sure they can't easily regain control and comprehensively commandeering military and civilian administration, etc. while being orchestrated apparently from the ranks of more middle ranking military rather than top brass - does make one wonder if it is foreign sponsored.

The people of Turkey trust the military much more than the government throughout it's history, hence all the other coups. Think of it like a reset button.
