Military coup in Turkey?

Interesting to see that the Kurds, who have had nothing short of an absolutely torrid time under Erdogan are coming out in full voice against the coup. That must be hard, the chance to see somebody who could easily be considered to have persecuted your people be overthrown, but to stand up for your views on democracy anyway.

Could this lend credence to the theory this is related to the cleric in America?

There seem to be many conflicting reports on what's going on. Information and misinformation.

Special forces saying someone has engaged in treason, first army group and Navy leader not supporting this.

Does not seem planned by main military, will not succeed.

that is pretty disappointing if true, much more potential for bloodshed in that case :(

Word on the personal grapevine currently is that Washington is getting slightly twitchy about all this.

I'm not sure you'd need a 'personal grapevine' to figure that the US, UK etc.. would be getting twitchy about a major NATO ally with US nuclear weapons based in the country undergoing a coup attempt :)

Thats the 20mm from the AH-1W or the T-129 and it's firing HEI (with HEI-T derivative) which you can tell from the little flashes as they impact so there will be no ricochets as each one explodes on contact.

There's plenty of Gulf War 2 videos of the US Marines using the same cannon on their AH-1W and again there's no ricochets.

You still normally can see sparks coming off the point of impact though in those light conditions not just the flashes from the rounds. I only said ricochets to keep it simple.

Not sure it's appropriate for Western Governments to come out in support of Erdogan, he is definitely not a good guy here. It is part of Turkey's constitution to allow the military to seize control from a leader who is taking too much power, which he has been doing.

They have come out in support of the democratically elected government of the day.

Erdogan might happen to be part of that government, but there is a distinction.

Forget Boris.

I want to hear what Donald Trump will say. I'm sure something ridiculous will come out of his mouth. Probably end up supporting the coup since Obama has come out against it.
