Military coup in Turkey?

Looked like a crowd in Ankara were sitting on a tank in Ankara, it was completely smothered as they chanted away. Shots being fired in the distance and the crowd went silent.

you can follow Erdogan's plane it seems....

still circling...

Stopped circling and now heading directly towards Istanbul/Gebze, where another plane has just taken off it appears.

I guess he's heading back to the city.

EDIT: Other plane hasn't taken off, it's now circling the airport having just arrived.

Yep it's over, coup soldiers being detained by the Turkish people and being led with arms held along with the police.

State broadcaster back online after being closed by the coop.

Officials blaming Gulen but that is remained to be seen.

now seems to be heading to Istanbul

edit - beaten to it...

(would be very risky if* the jets circling ar pro coup... gotta wonder if he is on-board or if those jets are pro Erdogan, regardless it isn't clear who has control of the airport either...)

Memes have become reality.

Speed of ammunition and frame rate of camera.
Nothing abnormal about such effects.

Nah it isn't that - unless there is some stabilisation or lense distortion going on something is off - if you play it back slowly you can see the point of impact shifting along the horizon with the camera movement.

These plotters should have listened to manstein: "Prussian field marshals do not mutiny".

Not only did they do over the PM in the process they backstabbed there own bosses.

Poorly planned and executed unless the masterstroke is coming..

Apparently the soldiers have pulled back once the orders from the highest ranking military officers eventually filtered down.

So they were following orders initially but then realised that the coup did not have authority from the most senior commanders.

I just hope they aren't executed, there's been enough bloodshed for one day. It's sad some were happy with deaths as long as they got to see erdogan gone.

It would be a good time for erdogan to show some leadership for healing rather than create more divisiveness.
