Monaco Grand Prix 2010, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Forgot to give a huge well done to Heikki for shoving his way down the inside of Massa who was slowing down to get a clear lap and thus slowing Heikki down.

Gave me a good laugh that. :D

He was still behind.
I stand by my previous statement.
On Saturday, we shall see if I'm wrong or right.

And please stop using 4 letter words. They dont win arguments.

Expect that to happen a lot on Saturday, as many drivers will be slowing down as they approach the final corner, to give themselves room for their upcoming lap.

Qualifying on Saturday could be quite chaotic and many drivers will be angry at the antics of their competitors.

Well, they know what to do. Return to the old style of qually (1hr, 12 laps, two days), and anyone who whines about traffic can be told 'tough ****' as they had plenty of time to get a fast lap in.

They don't need two practice sessions on a Friday (or Thursday for Monaco). So turn one of them into an initial qualifying session. Then a Saturday morning practice followed by a 1hr final qualifying. Fastest lap of either qualifying session determines your grid spot.

There was nothing really wrong with that style of qualifying, and plenty that was right. Those final few minutes used to be absolutely spell-binding (especially when Senna was at his peak). Since then they've dicked around with it (1 lap qual was a complete bust, the ideas since have been no better). Time to admit the experiment failed and get back to doing it properly.

Monaco magic endures through the ages
Vitaly Petrov is making an increasingly impressive entry into Formula 1 with Renault this year but Russia's first grand prix driver sounded startlingly out of step with his surroundings this weekend.

About halfway down is a highlights video of the 1992 monaco GP. Mansel and senna fighting. Pure awesomeness. I love watching early 90's stuff. I suppose it helps it's when I first remember watching it with my mum.

The FIA felt that Friday's ticket sales were too low. They also felt that Saturday wasn't as big a day as it could be (as sometimes the fastest time would be set on Friday). So the felt that they would turn qualifying into an intensive 1 hour session of excitement which requires all cars do go out and do laps throughout the session.

In the old days, a driver could set an unbeatable time on Friday and then proceed to never venture out of the pits again, leaving a lot of fans who paid for their Saturday tickets, dissapointed.

Personally, I like the current qualifying format.

I much prefer a return to the format of the early to late 90's. 12 laps but have 6 laps for the first half hour 6 for the 2nd. Or up the laps but split them every 15 minutes and then get rid of all the blocking crying.

The teams could use friday as a test day and I'm sure with the limited running they get now they would welcome it.

Just having a look at the testing times, anyone thing that Senna is going to be replaced after a few more poor performances... (poor compared to his pretty good team mate not how the rest of the field seeing how rubbish the car is)

On the plus, deferentially watching quali this week as well as the race :D
