Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

How can people watch that and blamehamilton, what did the stewards watch.

Even hitting hammy maldanado still went over the Kerbs, that's how early he turned, hammy was well up alongside him.

If you watch this video:

You will see that Maldonado clearly panics and turns into lewis. He turned so early and if Lewis hadnt of acted as a buffer it looks like he would have gone flying over the rumble strip and cut the corner!

Maldonado quite clearly cuts him off there - if anything Maldonado should have been penalised after the race.

Maldonado was taking the normal racing line but Hamilton was faster up the start finish straight, Hamilton gets up alongside him but then Maldonado just decides he wants to take Hamiltons line instead and completely shuts him off.

You need a bit of luck in everything in life, when it's out of your hands all you can do is be thankful. Fate's a wonderful thing - if Vettel's stop hadn't been ballsed up, would all this have worked out the same.. who knows :)

Couldn't agree with you more.
I hadn't caught any of the after-show things until the highlights show just now.
Can't agree with Eddie's opinions more though, whilst you can have all the luck, you also have to be in the position to fully utilise it.
Vettel just happened to be in the right place, if you hadn't watched this race you'd be forgiven for thinking "Ugh, Vettel wins again!"
It really wasn't the whole story this weekend though, this was a good watch and for a while it could have went an entirely different way.

Just catching up on iPlayer, did lewis just say it's because he is black???

Seriously?

It was a joke :D

From the BBC
"I'm pleased to say that he chose to return to the track a little while later to speak to the stewards about the joke. They accepted his explanation."

IMO and others it's clearly a joke. But foolish words and will be back to bite him.

I suspect that right now there is a McLaren press officer or PR wonk sat head in hands wondering just how much damage Hamilton will have done by the end of the season if he keeps this up :D

Head in hands?, he's cracking open the champaign. Overtime and job security for that fella. :D

Massa saw Hamilton and turned in on him leaving him no where to go.

I have been extremely critical of Hamilton all weekend, but in this case... It was a joke. In very poor taste I guess, especially given who it was aimed towards, it doesn't need any investigation or punishment though.
Mclaren need to get him reeled back in somewhat, a slap on the wrists at best.

This is a top driver, he's still quite young. Jokes like this should be overlooked as a hotheaded driver who didn't have things go his way.
Continuous slagging of the team though, as we've seen previously, get that halted immediately. It is not acceptable, and given the job his team have done, just rude. That car is evolving into a good one. :)

As long as this gets sorted out quick, I see no reason why he can't just be the person he always has been. An extremely quick driver with an eye for the overtakes that some wouldn't go for.
Originally I just didn't like him because he was direct competition to my supported driver, you still had to respect it though. Since the tail end of last year though, my respect for him has dwindled.
