Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

My beef about Hammy is he just comes across as a spoilt schoolkid sometimes. He's in a great team, gets paid loadsa money, and then when he balls up he can't seem to say "Sorry...screwed up!" without losing his toys. Compare with Di Resta....chalk and cheese

have you watched the replays?
He has said he's stuffed up in the past.

Yes...thus the wording with a sometimes in it. Having a go at the stewards saying it's a joke isn't going to help him much now is it?

This may have been quoted already, but I can't agree more. And I just hope Hamilton doesn't listen to his critics.

"Lewis had a frustrating afternoon," said Whitmarsh. "I guess the reality is that, if you start anywhere other than at the front of the grid here in Monte Carlo, you're always going to run the risk of getting involved in incidents - especially if, like Lewis, you're a forceful driver who never, ever, gives up.

"But that's Lewis. That's why he's such a fantastic driver – and that's why watching him race is so thrilling. So, yes, he's disappointed, because he's been seriously quick all weekend here, but that's Monte Carlo; that's racing; that's life."

The post race press conference.
For Alonso
Q: So you were really going to have a go at him, were you?(meaning Vettel)
FA: Of course, yes. There is nothing to lose for me. I am not leading the championship so I will try to win the race and if we crash we crash.

Same as Lewis glad we still have two racers left in F1 ;)

I guess Hamilton is known for running his mouth after a bad race (blaming his team, other drivers, anything) but I fear he will have upset a lot of the high ups today.

I'd also say Di-resta was far more fool hardy than Hamilton today, but he's a rookie not a world champion, Hamilton is going to be held to higher standards.

Of course not, but anger is good. Especially when it's been 5 out of 6 races.

And when he gets penalty after penalty making him more angry? I'm all for anger helping a driver but he's made himself look rather silly this weekend blaming all and sundry. I'm not a Hamilton fan, met him and thought he was a complete ***k, and that is why I don't like him. However, I'm also for someone who respects their sport and thinks before they open their trap

I hope we see more of that kind of aggressive driving from Di-resta (minus the crashes). I have high hopes for the guy and hopefully he can get himself into a better car. Maybe take Massa's place...? :)

Massa saw Hamilton and turned in on him leaving him no where to go.

Yep because the defending drivers know that if they simply hold the racing line and cause a collision the attacking driver will more often than not be penalised, it's all wrong for a sport that wants to encourage more overtaking... Rosberg could have done the same thing to Schumacher but that wouldn't have exactly been very good for the team so he gave him space as racing drivers should.

There is a point where the driver in front should just accept that they don't have track position and give way but while ever the stewards are penalising the attacking driver they will continue to hold the line regardless of if another car is there.

well I looked at those videos and I just don't think he was far enough alongside to overtake, his front wheel hit the side pod of Massa and the back wheel of Maldonado.

I am disappointed with Hammi to be honest he seems to be getting very desperate early on this year.

I think he needs a change, his first two years in F1 spoilt him.

I don't think he was joking either....

Except he's right, look at the replays, even with hitting hammy, maldanado didn't make the apex.

Did i miss something? i heard Hamilton blame the team over the qualifying incident on Saturday but praised them after the race. If the team kept him in in Q3 then surely that's well founded? just dont say so on live tv ;)
All i saw was DC proclaiming he always blamed the team when he should look in the mirror more. But the reality of it is he didn't?

Think i'm gonna have to watch the forum again.

Was just going to post that idea, but thought I'd be mocked. It's a shame this track has to have an effect on the championship.

I said that before the race and was mocked. It's a **** track. Yes it's a spectacle to watch the cars blat round near the railings but it's not a race track.

10 million prize money and gtfo the calendar.

1988 World Sportscar Champion
1988 Daytona 24 Hrs winner
1990 Le Mans 24 Hrs winner
Only British driver to ever win an IROC race

You were saying?

Yeah some only watch F1 they have no idea motorsport exists outside of the F1 paddock. Some actually believe these numpties are the best drivers on earth.

IMO and others it's clearly a joke. But foolish words and will be back to bite him.

Joke my backside, it's a get out. The mood he was in he wasn't joking.

Good race by Button, shame he didn't get the win. Yet again Alonso shows why in equal equipment over a season he would beat anyone. In 10 years time hamilton hopefully will have the same maturity. I think Hamilton is as fast but lacks the brains and calmness over a season of Alonso.

He drove off the racing line though, ok he was still in front but there was no way he was going to make the apex with that angle, I'd be more sympathetic if he had held the line as then it would have been 100% Hamilton.

I guess we'll have to differ on this matter then...I feel he was desperate all race, and so did the pundits. The bit I disliked was his post race interview, and hope he gets some punishment for bringing the sport into disrepute, although I doubt that would stop him being smug...
