Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

I don't know how you get that final conclusion. Why do you think the Red Bull is always much faster in qfy then than the race?.

Becuase my dear friend he knows what he's talking about.

CS NuTs, please note that not all of us work for redbull.

Mind you, please also note that some of us have a secret background of our own.

There are those that state 'if you're not cheating in F1 then you're not trying hard enough'. Red bull are fully compliant with the rules at the time they're tested which then makes them legal according to the regulations.

It amuses me no end, what was it that DW said during one of the nascar races earlier this year? "If your right side's dented, you're making progress.. if your left side is dented, you're not trying hard enough". Should apply that to F1 too..

Missed the race but watched highlights of it, gutted about the red flag I think alonso would have taken him otherwise. The whole Hamilton thing as well, i think it was a bit harsh but thems the rules n all that

Is it true that whoever owns, runs, whatever its called, messes up...I mean regulates F1 are 'down sizing' everything in the coming years? Eg, making the engines in F1 cars smaller, thus less powerful and more 'Eco friendly'?

Cant believe I wrote Eco friendly and F1 in the same sentence but is there any truth in this or am I talking late night, half asleep rubbish again?

Yeh we have had so much luck...

For me these last 2 races, red bulls main advantage is traction. Even when others seem to be struggling for rear grip around them red bull seem to be able to get the power down when it matters. I fully believe this ability has won you the last 2 races, as without that corner exit advantage it would have been second in spain and third in monaco.
I'll leave everyone else to argue whether its this blown rear or whatever thats giving you this extra rear grip, although iirc its actually something the renault team were famous for and to an extent still seem to be good at, traction.

Engines are going to be 1.6 turbos I believe.

I don't know if it will make the cars much slower, or any more economical really. If some boy racers can get 500bhp+ from a 1.6 civic turbo then F1 engineers being clever as they are should easily maintain similar figures to what we're used to, although the power delivery may be different. Big fail though as far as the fans are concerned, no way will it sound as nice.

The 1.5l Turbo engines of old were 1200hp + in qualifying trim ;)
The BMW unit could hit 1500hp

But of course FIA would never allow such powerfull engines into the sport again!

Oh noes, not engines with a very big turbo that use way too much fuel, 4 pots with a small turbo that are 'green' is the future, full throttle 90% of the time and no challenge whatsoever.

What is so good about the Red Bull is that they seem to get more traction out of a corner making overtaking very difficult, in the Monaco GP it was clear to see that Vettel could get a better drive out of the last corner than Alonso so overtaking wasn't possible, same as Hamilton not being able to overtake Vettel in Spain.

Quite a few haters not accepting the apology though. No matter what he does he can't win.

Text speak, hamiltons actually thicker than I thought he was. :(

Cant wait for him to leave McLaren though.

Yep I'm the same, I just can't see where he can go except RB. He needs a change of scenary. Can't imagine how his mouth would run off drinking red bull :D

That's why I'm asking the question. Everyone keeps asking where the performance comes from in qually that's not in the race, or the gap is closed.

Why?

People said it was the DRS but clearly from monaco that can't be the case, which is why I asked. I don't believe it can all come from EBD, unless they barely use that map in the race?

Yes they'll be smaller - 1.6l turbo V4's replacing the current 2.4l NA V8's - they won't be any less powerfull though, around 700bhp when you factor KERS in but economy will increase by 35%.

I believe it is the EBD.

As to why it doesn't seem as effective in the race, I can't see Red Bull wanting to carry and extra 40kg of fuel during the race to have EBD working all the time - I'm not even sure the car has the capacity for that extra fuel.

Well what do you expect? One apology isn't going to make people forget the numerous times he's gone off on one about something and blamed everyone except himself. I respect his driving talent but his attitude drives me nuts. He doesn't even seem to have any respect for a team that's done everything for him. He really needs to learn to just keep his mouth shut. He also lacks the ability to keep a level head and not let things get to him. If he can learn to do this he'll do a lot better.

Regarding the race; Red flag was disappointing since it rather ruined what was going to be a very interesting to the race. The regulations once again prove to be completely stupid in allowing people to make changes to the cars between restarts IMO.

Hamilton won't leave McLaren unless he's told to leave.

They wouldn't dare tell him, he would claim it's because he's black and they would be in a tribunal ;)

I believe it is the EBD. .

I can't wait to see if it is, I still don't believe what someone said earlier that it's all down to the EBD and they will struggle to get podiums.

First people banged on about the time coming from the front wing, then the rear wing being designed that way for better DRS benefit, now everyones trying to claim in the EBD.

When that's removed everyone will probably say they are using the 'Force' for extra downforce.

I'm not saying anyones wrong, I find it curious and it will be interesting to see how much the RB design changes if EBD is removed :)
