Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

If the FIA do ban the EBD by silverstone, I think it will be a game changer, JMO mind, the whole mystical Adrian Newey thing and the flexi wing all depends on the EBD,

IMO RB can run the car at a steeper rake because of the extreme use of the EBD, the front wing then runs closer to the ground for geometrical reasons, the aerodynamic load on the front wing probably increases with the inverse of ride height squared and hence the wing flexes and runs even closer to the ground.

The effect of the rake at the rear of the car is to create a larger volume defuser, normally this would stall due to insufficient air flow, however the addition of the engine exhaust flow at low torque demand, gives sufficient flow for the defuser to work. When going full throttle along a straight, the defuser stalls again and hence has low drag.

Basically the RB aero package collapses with no EBD. I reckon RB will struggle to get podiums if they do ban the EBD.

Agreed..........

Pretty much this, IF they ban it. I am not convinced they will follow through.

'That Trick' sldsmkd is purely them running **** loads of fuel through that exhaust system to get the defuser working very very well.

Someone feel free to correct me!

I don't know why, but i'm warming to hamilton. I just watched a bit of the forum where he's interviewed and comes out with his Ali G quote, and I must say I chuckled a few times though that interview. What he says may be provocative, or wrong, or even plain silly, but I like it. I'd much rather he talked like that, and was honest, rather than his usual butt kissing for the team blah blah that probably made me sick of him.
I've about had enough of this "i want to thank the team for doing a great job" etc, I want to hear what drivers really think, not these fake scripts that they seem to be following.
I am officially removing myself from the Hamilton hate club, although i'm by no means ready to join the fanboy club.

Pretty much what the trick is, I should have quoted the good explanation by Slam62. What I was trying to say is that they can only do this "trick" in very limited circumstances - i.e.they need to burn a crap load of fuel, have the engine on a mapping that is completely unsuitable for normal race usage and be able to use the DRS anywhere on a lap. Without whatever it is they are doing, the car is still fast; but not the fastest.

RB totally lucked into that result imo , they would have been slaughtered in the last 5-8 laps without the red flag / new tyres.

Really think JB deserved the win yesterday - he slaughtered both Alonso and SV on every set of tyres, and got fastest lap after fastest lap (until MW on the last lap of the race)

I dont know why people are keen to criticize him when they say nothing about Alonso following SV for even longer without barely trying one attempt to overtake
