Monaco Grand Prix 2014, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Lol.

Its funny how he has completely turned a massive amount of people against him after 1 childish tantrum.

Or should I say turned people against him again. The Hamilton hate bandwagon has been parked up for a while, but it didn't take much for it to come back out. Its such a shame. He's a great driver, but god he's hard work to support!

he is hard work to support.
I find his driving very entertaining to watch.
like alonso he always wants to win but alonso is more calculated about it
alonso has only really had that one bad year THAT year, apart from that i have also had a lot of appreciation of his style and ability

would love to see him in a top car again like 04-05

People need to get over it really. He's not happy, big deal. All of the top drivers get whiney when things don't go there way....

He had locked up late in qualifying and the yellow flags that followed forced Hamilton to abort his potentially pole-winning lap. Rosberg was cleared after a three-hour investigation by stewards but Hamilton said on Sunday night: “I wish you could have seen the data. I saw something late on last night and all I could do was smile.”

Hmm...

Yeah, because it is totally unfeasable that Hamilton would just make that up to sustain his viewpoint, rather than have to admit he was being a childish brat?

Any claims about 'data' from Hamilton are voided by the butthurt. If there was anything, the FIA would have found it, as they were clearly on a witch hunt by investigating it in the first place.

Hamilton is feeding his own feelings of being hard done by, and its pretty pathetic.

He could have course just been referring to the fact that the data showed he was quicker than Rosberg up until the point the yellows came out, hence it's like a moral victory and maybe then of course, more reason to moan about it.

That was my interpretation of it. He knows he could/would have beaten him and he could/would have overtaken him on any other track except Monaco.

I fully expect him to come back stronger in Canada and beast it.

It's strange, in interviews and the little segments they do I always think Hamilton comes across well and seems a decent guy, then the next minute he is acting like he's a rapper or that the world is against him...

Regardless of what the cause was Monaco is over and Rosberg won it, I think he needs to put his energy into the next race not keep dwelling on what's happened but as we've seen before it seems he can dwell a lot on things others may just shrug off.

The article on Sky by Brundle sums things up perfectly.

"In contrast, the incident did seem to affect Lewis Hamilton. As plenty of people have pointed out since, Lewis wasn't exactly shy in complaining about his lot both during and after the race. His gritty left eye did look swollen on the podium but he curiously played that problem down after the race. But while it's easy to accuse Lewis of whinging and being petulant, that does tend to be the way of a champion. Think of Senna, think of Mansell - they were never shy in displaying their discontent in public. One characteristic all the champions have in common is selfishness. Utterly self-focused, the one thing they all want is an unfair advantage in their favour. The flip side is that they simply can't tolerate someone else having that advantage. It hurts them badly when they do - that's their weakness."

He has nothing different from any other F1 champion. I think Hamilton's raw speed and dramatics coupled with Rosberg's tactical driving and ruthlessness is making this season very exciting. Let the rivarly continue and roll on Canada.

I don't buy that he just saw he was faster up until the yellow flag. He could have just said that rather than just insinuate and give the impression he saw that Rosberg cheated. Didn't the Sky side by side not show he was down on rosberg but coming into the section he was fastest?

I do laugh at the childish comments about Lewis though :)

I do laugh that you constantly try to get a reaction from smr but when the comments are directed at Lewis you take the moral high ground when in fact you are just a mirror of him. :D

Lewis fans

Although to be fair it is typical of this forum you are either a hater if you are critical or a fanboy if you defend someones actions. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground :D

...And I would reply as follows:

So why did you let that happen, you imbecile?!? What the **** is wrong with you? You get in a Grand Prix car on a Sunday morning, and suddenly you can't think for yourself? I mean, what do you honestly think would happen if you radioed in to say that you were pitting at a time that you wanted to pit? They aren't just going to leave you sat like a ******* lemon in the pit box. They'll service the car. So make it a God damned fait accompli and just tell them what you are going to do! This is not an intelligence test that a past champion should be failing. Don't just sit there, sulking and stewing about it. Sort yourself out.

Toto was asked in the after race show what would happen if Lewis made the call to come in, and he stated that the lead car makes the call.

Now, Herbert raised the point you did (surely the team wouldn't let him sit there) and obviously they wouldn't, but I imagine there would be consequences for Lewis if he did do that.

Personally, I think he should have done that, but Hamilton has always relied on the team strategists to make the call for him, so it's hardly surprising.

We didn't hear the response from the team, but surely pitting before the safety car was confirmed would have been detrimental to Hamilton and perhaps even risked 2nd place from Kimi, Ricciardo and Alonso? He'd pit while the other cars were hammering around at full speed, then the safety car comes out and and everyone (Hamilton included) has to stick to the delta until they catch the safety car. Unless the safety car came out as Rosberg was going down the S/F straight (which would have been some horribly bad luck), Hamilton surely couldn't have gained from stopping the lap before.

He would have been able to get into the pits at full speed, before the SC was deployed, the others would have been stuck behind the safety car losing time relative to him, he would then be able to rejoin and catch up to the back of the pack at delta pace. By this time, the pack would have come around, and be pitting, so he would move the field, unless some of the runners runners chose not to pit, in which case, he would either over-take later, or just sit and wait them out with a set of fresher tyres :)

It was about getting a jump on Rosberg, who at the time was the only concern.

The advantage is less than it used to be, as the cars have to use the delta times now, rather than just flying around to the back with little regard for the yellow flags. However, as Rosberg was so close, it should have allowed the jump to work nicely.

No, they did half a lap at full speed then half a lap at the delta (the same delta Hamilton would have had). They only caught the safety after the pit stop.

The safety car only came out as Hamilton and Rosberg were going into the tunnel the following lap.

With all the silly posts about Hamilton, I'm really glad that forums like this wasn't around in the Lauda\Hunt and Senna\Prost days.

They've always been around in some form. Back in mediaeval days they had tapestries that were pretty much "LAVGHING ALOVD. THINKST THOV ALSO THAT KYNGE HARALD WAS SLAIN WITHE AN ARROW IN YE EYE?" "CHRIST'S WOVNDS, WHY CAN WE NOT WEAVE A TAPESTRIE SAVE THAT SOME FOOLE GODWINSSONS YE THREAD?"
