Oh man, the close up on Leclerc just shows his disappointment and pain..

His own fault. Shouldn't have crashed, so I suppose in a way he deserves what he got. Shame though as it would made for a more interesting race.

Still not as bad as Verstappen when things go wrong, or Alonso

He's worse than both IMO. On any other track he would have been able to put it into his racing. No chance today though.

Most boring race I've seen since I can remember. Nothing else to add except I'm not bothering next year

1/10.

0/10 if possible

That's not even an exaggeration.

Was there a single overtake?

Yawn. Frustrating start to the race with LeClerc not being able to take part, and the race director seemingly missing any of the exciting moments in the race. Never even saw a replay of Vettel coming out of the pits, side by side with Gasly in front of Hamilton. A race to forget for multiple drivers and the sport as a whole!

I guess if there's anything to say.
Was leclercs dns because of the crash? If so. That's fair.

DR and FA continue being schooled by thier team mates. I wish gasley was put in the alpine. Even wanted that last year.

Wasn't even a threat of an overtake. Which makes it worse.

They did start showing a replay, but then cut away from that again!

The full thing is in the highlights video on YT. Gasly had the inside on the run up to Massenet, but backed out of it and let Vettel swoop round the outside.

As always, yawn fest.

Interesting start to the season and would be nice for it to continue but you just know Merc are going to come out fighting and you wouldn't bet against them putting in some serious performances over the next few races.

Oh dear oh dear Mercedes you well and truly dropped the ball...
Verstappen’s a luck boy with Hamilton going the wrong way on setup and Bottas pot woes - I’ve never known that to happen with a wheelnut.
Then pole man then had a DNS.
Kinda harsh to sayhe got what he deserved.
It was an error he didn’t deliberately bin it.

Ricciardo had an awful race having been lapped by your team-mate. Such a fall from grace!
Aston had a better race
Also, is this the youngest podium ever at Monaco?

As far as I know the first Monaco race without a single yellow flag, let alone VSC or SC.

I have to admit I was slightly intoxicated in nervous anticipation of the football, hence my vote of 6 that I wish I could change down to a 2 or 3, but the pre-race drama and pitstop phase did have a genuine excitement about it, albeit briefly.

Some of the worst TV direction of an F1 race I've ever seen, and I include in that ITV cutting to an advert in Imola only returning half way through the last lap.

Stunning job by Vettel (ironically equalling his worst finish in Monaco, while being one of his best) in overhauling Hamilton and Gasly and honourable mentions for Norris Gasly and Perez.

Terrible luck for Bottas after a solid opening and what should have been a nailed on podium and Leclerc too, if the failure wasn't caused by the crash (which seem unlikely).

The wheel nut was cross-threaded when it went on on the grid. Trying to take it off at the stop chewed the threads even further to the point that even if they had managed to get the nut off, there would be no thread left to hold the new nut and wheel back on.
From what I heard, the nut was actually rounded off. Mclaren etc have a splittable nut. This means they can whack it with a hammer and chock and the nut will split in half, and if there is sufficient thread left they can put a new nut with the new wheel back on (of course they are captive in the wheel)

Totally agree with others that Monaco needs to go. It makes the sport look bad. I lasted till the pitstops then started fast forwarding as am not daft enough to watch it live.

I doubt either of them has suddenly become slow. Especially Danni Ric who was beating Max and qualifying better. All of the guys that have switched teams (or are new) have been beaten by their teammates at this early stage in the season. Sainz, Vettel, Alonso, Ricciardo, Tsunonda etc..

Seems like it's more down to the lack of testing and sailing the cars in for them.

I think they should allow full contact at Monaco, install bumper car style rubber rings, reinforce the barriers and allow contact within braking zones, no missile attacks from 1/2 a mile back tho.
