Monzo/Starling Banking/Revolut

Ah so its like a nominee account? They hold the crypto on your behalf?

I always noticed when they added crypto that there prices seemed a bit low?

Yea they need to add the ability to deposit money using the post office link network like starling has done also

Does anyone know if Revolut automatically send a new card out when the current one expires? Or do you have to pay £11.99 to get one delivered?

I only ask because mine expires early next year, but it's an earlier non-contactless one and I'd like to upgrade, but if they send it out for free I might as well wait.

Revolut customer service is absolutely appalling. I had a card sent through and they failed to associate it with my account after several days as the app kept throwing up errors.

I've given up on them - it's like Virgin media first line scripted support.

I used Starling instead. No issues and a competitive rate.

How so? I thought it was free with monzo up to £200 in a rolling 30 day period?

Which is a backtrack on their original promise. Better than nothing, but £200 doesn't go far when travelling abroad. You'd be better off with Starling that has committed to fee free foreign currency, Metro in for EU travel, or a specialist credit card. Bear in mind that in many countries you need cash and simply cannot pay for everything with a card at the POS. I'm not talking smaller countries either, Germany for example is still a massively cash bashed economy.

I’ve travelled Germany quite well and never had a problem using my card over there. Sure a few funny looks but they still take cards. Credit cards are scarce over there mind.

Even on Greek islands they take cards now, majority of countries I’ve been to take cards no problem. Sure there are exceptions Taiwan for example in some of the smaller towns I struggled a little bit. Overall though cards have served me very well in recent years.

why not? it's the best way to do it abroad
I get the impression (from mse, which always seems the best place for this sort of advice) that the Barclaycard Platinum Travel credit card is better.

Very good rates, no need to pay it off until next month's bill, no interest charges if you pay it all off.

If it's anything like when I lost my card last month (free account), I only paid 55p for a replacement.

I’m looking a switching my current account to starling
I've opened one for an imminent holiday

Opening it was easy; the card arrived within days ;the app seems excellent.

I tried transferring money to it from my existing account and got notification from the app almost too soon after clicking, "Send"

Got another notification about some minimal monthly interest the account accrued.

Early days, but encouraging so far.

I think I might open one for my holiday and see how it goes and then make the switch I spoke to customer services as I’d actually need a job. Account and they said that they should have it all up and running by the end of the year so that sounds good.
Only other thing is that my wife thinks

“what if I need to go into the bank for something?”

Must have a good customer service, I’ve only been in a few times to deposit cash so how would that work if you were using it as your current account
