Webber to commentary? Despite him being a part-time pundit for C4 this year, I could well envisage him in DC's old BBC role, alongside Brundle at Sky, with Crofty out, given the level of criticism Croft has been receiving in the past couple of years (and he has got much worse each year).

The Brundle/DC partnership for that single year at the BBC was the best commentary combo since Murray and Martin in the late 90s and I can well imagine Sky wanting a piece of that.

I can't see a DC/Webber commentary stance. DC doesn't have the guile for a lead commentator and Webber hasn't really commentated on anything other than the odd one-off, though it would be a fantastic combination given their rather fun final years as teammates and I can well imagine it being the long-term plan.

The obvious option is that Webber will simply become a full-time pundit for C4, and I wouldn't complain at all about that - he's been truly excellent this year.

Hulk to Renault for a year before jumping to Ferrari when Kimi gets the boot/goes for an ice cream in 2018?

When have contracts mattered in any sport? :p

I'd rather have Hulk than Perez, personally. Maybe it was his stint at McLaren but I find Perez boring as a racing driver as he prefers the "slow and steady" 1 stop strategy almost as his default strategy.

Because it works for him and he's getting results (as in he finished well ahead of Hulkenberg in the standings last year, and barring a massive shock will do so again this year). Let's not forget that Renault apparently wanted Perez before Hulkenberg.

Just because he was rather aggressive against Button shouldn't stain his entire career, as most other years he's been good to excellent.

Hulkenberg needed a kick up the arse, and being roundly beaten by Perez hasn't seemed to do much, so he probably does need a change of scenery.

The championship standings do not paint the best picture of comparison between the pair. Perez may be ending with better results but he's far from whooping Nico's behind.

2016: Perez 80 (0 Ret) Hulk 54 (3 Ret).
Of the 14 races where they both started and finished Perez has bested Hulk in 8 of them.

2015: Perez 78 (1 Ret) Hulk 58 (5 Ret, 1 DNS).
In the 13 races where they both started and finished Hulk bested Perez in 7 of those.

2014: Perez 59 (3 ret 1 DNS) Hulk 96 (2 Ret).

Its hardly fair to say that Perez finished "well ahead" last year especially when you consider the 5 extra retirements that Hulk suffered. 20 points is also far from well ahead!

When you factor in everything the drivers are quite evenly match and overall Hulk has had the upper hand when it comes to race performances. This year so far has been strong for Perez but he has still had less retirements then Hulk and has lucked in to a couple of podiums.

Both of them would have been a solid choice for Renault, and I think this could be great for Hulk if Renault have a strong turnaround next year.

I'm not saying they were his fault as frankly I can't remember, but he only retired from one race last year due to unreliability, the other 4 were either crashes or crash damage.

He used to be one of the most consistent drivers in that regard, rarely making race-ending mistakes (the rather clumsy collision with Hamilton excepted).

Hungry his front wing failed on him, Belgium he had engine failure, Singapore he and massa came together as massa was leaving the pits and ended with hulk in the wall. Clearly in hulks blind spot and team didn't communicate to him what was going on. Russia he span out and was collected by Marcus Ericsson at turn 2.

3 out of the 5 not his fault, 1 of the 2 others arguably one of the worst drivers on the grid failed to avoid him like everyone else and so you can't fully blame the retirement on hulk, USA he slid in to Riccardo and broke his front suspension.

1 out of 5 retirements where the driver was solely to blame and that one in challenging conditions.

I'm not sure Jensen has a interest in WEC. However, it would be good to rase the profile of the WEC.

I can see Webber being replaced by Nick Tandy which would be epic or Earl Bamber.

The image of WEC will not be helped if they keep parachuting ex-F1 drivers into the top manufacturer teams. Not only does it paint WEC as a "lesser" series which F1 drivers turn to in their "retirement" but it's annoying and unfair on those drivers who've dedicated themselves to endurance racing and are trying to work their way up to the top.
