Teams would copy Aston rear wing, even if it hurts racing

Was reading this, and was thinking about the situation with Aston's rear wing. Would be a complete failure if it hurt the closer following we're seeing this year, and all teams got in on it.
Given that the regulations were made to try and have cars following closer, allowing better racing, could this be outlawed for this reason? If floor rules can be tightened mid season, can wing rules (even though not a safety issue)? With cost caps it makes it more difficult to think what the right thing to do is.
Giant heavy cars, that were just as bad for racing as previous years'? No thanks.

They've already said that they will ban stuff based on loopholes if it undermines the intent of the rule changes re: ability to follow. It was talked about during the discussion around Mercedes sidepods.

Bit of a clown sport with that though. Teams need to develop, there's so much money at stake, but it's also wasting the budget they have. If Aston have developed this discussing with the FIA then it's another egg on face moment for the sport's management.

It would seem Alonso is going to Aston Martin given the Twitter updates flying around this morning

More than rumours. It's on Aston Martin's website.

I really don't understand Alonso's decision making, it's like he enjoys the disappointment of being in a car that isn't good enough.

I think there's a good chance Alpine weren't going to renew him for '23 anyway. They need to get Piastri into a seat.
