Yeah, I called it. They let Horner play his Boris Johnson type card for a week to detract from the budget cap shenanigans. But now the sponsors have stepped in and questioned why their logos aren’t on prime time anymore.. sigh.

By the way, what’s happened to Karun? He hasn’t been on for the last few races has he? Have I missed something?
I hadn't really noticed until my girlfriend pointed it out after the race on Sunday. Had a quick look online but couldn't see anything. He's still posting regularly on Twitter.

Or for those that live in the real world... Sky have got in touch with Red Bull, had some discussions, apologised and had a word with Ted so now everything can move on like normal....
A broadcaster apologising for reporting factual information, what? If Sky had apologised Red Bull would make sure we knew it.

The boycott didn't make any sense to me, Sky and Ted are always singing Red Bull's and Max's praises. Saying Hamilton was robbed wasn't anything negative against Red Bull, it was against the FIA who themselves even admitted there was a human error and fired Masi. If it was a distraction from the cost cap cheating, it wasn't a very good one because most fans didn't even know there was a boycott.

I can’t say I disagree with anything in that article. It’s funny seeing Horner and Red Bull face criticism when most of it is related to how they’ve handled the situation.

Imagine how differently the news coverage for the last week would have been had Horner come out and said; we thought we were in budget but ultimately this is our mistake. We accept the FIA’s finding and our punishment.

Though now I fear for StumbleBum and him having an aneurysm reading that article.

Christian Horner: ‘Max Verstappen’s achievements don’t get the recognition they deserve’

Perhaps it’s because he drives for a toxic team with a toxic principal.

This!

He is a good driver no doubt and would have won titles without the BS from RB and the FIA

Oof. Nice for someone to actually come out and say what most F1 fans are thinking.

:p

Yeah. With regards to the link @Feek posted, well they've only got themselves to blame. I've said it a million times, all this polarisation has really gotten worse and worse since RB's resurgence and particularly since Max's fans have had something to crow about.

Maybe we should petition Sky to stop going over to Horner during races?

Interesting article and gives a lot of clarity away from the world of f1.

F1 needs to get real, all these arguments are pathetic and could get a lot more serious.

The trouble is I don't think the organisation is grown up or mature enough to see it. Any sport is nothing if the rules are not applied strictly and fairly. It's abiding by the rules that make it what it is.

Don't think Masigate or Costcapgate will ever go away sadly. As truthful as that article is, everyone really needs to move on and just accept it's the way it is with regard to past results.
Honestly, as a bitter Hamilton fan I totally get it. But the problem arises because Max/RB fans (and even a few commentators) literally won't shut up about Max being the "one of the best ever" or "one of the all time greats" etc. Every time that comes up, it's like a red rag to a bull (pardon the expression).

Max is one of the best ever. Every World Champion is one of the best ever. Heck, even race winners are a pretty exclusive club. What he's not done anything yet to prove is that he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as drivers like Hamilton, Schumacher, Fangio, Prost, Senna, and Lauda.

I don't like the guy, but he's a brilliant driver. Especially this season, where he's taken a real step up from last year.

That's my point. People frequently do. Even the Sky commentators were guilty of saying guff like "and we're witnessing some epic racing between two of the greatest drivers that ever lived!11" even before he took the trophy in 2021.

As for a brilliant driver, each to their own. Again, this is coming from a bitter Hamilton fan but I didn't see anything noteworthy in 2021 apart from the usual rocket-up-the-inside-and-force-the-other-guy-off-track. Or this season, wait for a straight and hit the DRS button. (He's certainly not been challenged this year apart from the first few races against Leclerc) He's fast, undeniable, and a great qualifier, but his actual racing during 2021 was outright dangerous in many places - and had he been penalised properly then he would have been a firm second in the championship and we would be having a very different conversation.
