Pretty sure by the end of the season drivers were saying so many of their crew were ill. Just too much, I can’t imagine flying so much and going through so many time zones every week. Absolute nightmare.

tbh as much as i lovew F1 i think 26 races would be too much for the crews

Totally. 20 races was pushing it IMO.

About 18 was the sweet spot, imo.

They really do need to trim the calendar down. It'll never happen though, too much money at stake.

Regarding the number of races a season, as we have more circuits than it’s possible to have races. Why not alternate some circuits each year? It could be interesting having a 22 race season with around 12-15 races made up of annual races that are on the calendar every year; the likes of Silverstone, Spa, Monza etc. Then the remaining 7-10 races are a rotation of the 15 or so circuits F1 can race at.

We would then get to every circuit without needing a 26 race year. It could also benefit street circuits, like Las Vegas, in only needing to shut down the city every other year.

If the calendar is known far enough in advance I don’t see there being a logistical problem with this. However, contractually I imagine it could get tricky.

Race tracks are incredibly expensive to run and many of them only manage to stay afloat by hosting the F1 every year (IIRC, Silverstone is one of those tracks).

Promoters and venues like having the same annual events too, it makes everything easier to organise each year rather than on a 2-year rotation.

I did enjoy it when our race alternated between Silverstone and Brands Hatch and would love to see that happen again but financially, the level of investment that’s gone into the former means that the latter will almost certainly never see an F1 race again.

That’s a good point and another reason it wouldn’t work. Still, it was more of an interesting idea than a practical solution.

Brands Hatch is likely too small for the cars now. Plus the noise complaints from all the residents who bought a house built right beside a race track as there always is...

I haven‘t been to Brands in a very long time, but I remember the infield section being tiny with barely enough space in the pits for a British Touring Car race.

Have been reading on Twitter that yet another court case is being raised by local residents who moved into newly built housing close to the track are trying to get Laguna Seca closed down, citing environmental issues and the track being a ‘public nuisance’. The place only has around six ‘unlimited’ events a year due to noise complaints already. Hopefully this one will also not be granted and the track can continue.

I ******* hate that BS. The exact same happened where I live. There's a great live concert venue that was a bit out in the sticks, but over the years housing developments started to encroach out towards it, until about 5 years ago when they actually built one fully sourrounding it. Before anyone had even moved in to the houses the lawsuits about noise had started. It very nearly had to close down, but thankfully the local council saw sense in the end.

I love that BS. sorry but loud noises is not on in a residential place.

Dont blame the residence of moaning about concert noises etc.

New “locals” have tried to get both Thruxton and Mallory Park closed in the past.
