When you think about this; its a fairly stunning indictment of how Hamilton feels about Mercedes chances of returning to the top if he's willing to gamble on joining a team that haven't won a title in 17 years and have all the strategic inclination of a chicken in a minefield

Although maybe he's thinking that it's got to be Ferraris turn again soon :p

The only team move he's made in F1 turned out to be a master stroke and added 6*(7) more titles to his roster.

Gonna be fun watching those folks who were vehemently anti-Ferrari back during Hamilton vs Massa in 2008 flail around now that Sir Lewis is going there :D Especially if they screw up and build him a great car!

I seem to remember talk over previous years that Lewis wanted an ongoing roll with Mercedes after his retirement as an ambassador for Merc/AMG

I guess that;s out the window now...

Can't see this helping either of them really, very unlikely Ferrari will win Lewis another championship and can't see Lewis improving the team greatly
Why wouldn't a 7/8 time world champion improve a team, exactly? You can be the most gifted driver in the world but if you can't articulate your demands, or issues (etc) to your engineers then you're going nowhere fast. Lewis can clearly do that, as shown by his successes.

I remember thinking he'd thrown away his career when moving from Mclaren to Mercedes. I'm just assuming that back then he had great advice/insider info, and hoping that the same is true for 2025/6.

That was totally me, and always anti-Schumacher as well for years. I think I've already forgotten :o :D

I think the question is more about whether Ferrari (in particular) would listen and change anything about the way they operate more so than whether Lewis has the capability to potentially improve a team.

Ferrari building a great car would be an immense screw up on their part.

Hamilton will still have my support, I don't mind Leclerc either. It's the magic 8 ball and the leaking and smoking red bit that I'm not keen on. ;)
