Motorsport Off Topic Thread

Whose ever stated Mercedes are out to get RB and who has stated anything about fake news? Of course once an allegation has been made then it is only correct it needs to be properly and impartiality investigated.
Innocent until proven guilty but if he is proven to have acted unprofessionally then he will go which is a shame. But if he's not then no way should he resign.

I didn’t say Mercedes, I went to say Mercedes media and corrected myself. But I’m glad to see you struggling to remember this morning ;)

He has not been proven guilty of anything yet, jeez. As for the 'Mercedes' media, I'd certainly take anything they state with a massive does of salts.
None of what has been alleged fits his character at all and unfortunately these days any men in the position of power is a easy target and what seems to be a culture of guilty until proven innocent.
The media is just another hypothetical lynch mob, as some in this thread also appear to be.

But before you get your knickers in a twist my post was (mostly) tongue in cheek at you trying to downplay the story as basically propaganda by those who want to discredit Horner.

You're right, but he must think he has them covered as he's not walked yet. I doubt he's *that* unaware. (Unaware may not be the best word but the best my brain can muster right now.)

I'm not sure about that. You don't get to be in a position like Horner's without an immense amount of determination and "not giving up"-ness. He'll clutch at any straw if he thinks there's a chance.

If there’s anything to the allegations, and that remains to be seen, then I expect he will be offered the option to jump and if he resists, he’ll get pushed.

However, the allegations are just that but the weight of the response by Red Bull suggests they feel the investigation is warranted.

I detest trial by media mentality, and Christian should be given the opportunity to respond to the allegations. I don’t particularly like the bloke, but he deserves fair treatment whilst correct due process is followed.

I would love for Horner to **** off and for Newey to come to Ferrari with Lewis. Can't see any of it happening though :(

After all..

Is it just me or has f1 fans become like football fans?
Very much so it seems, especially those who seem to be the hang him high brigade. They seem to think they're in a episode 9f East Enders with their rants against RB and Horner.
Juvenile football fans really and an embarrassment to F1.

One could argue that the toxicity of RB has been one of the main reasons for this… DTS the other of course.
I use to go to races and literally hang out with Ferrari, red bull and other fans fine but nowadays you can't do that as they seem to be tribal towards there team or drivers much like football.

Soon they are going to have to have a ferrari team seating area, a merc area etc etc for the spectators...

Did you see how a fight amongst rival team fans happened in Mexico gp I believe?

Its becoming common..

DTS the other of course.
Absolutely this is to blame

One could argue that #TeamLH constantly throwing out death threats are the worst of the bunch.
That just feeds into the mentality that all the fans are different. I'm sure Lewis has a subset of idiot fans much like Max or any other leading driver with a passionate fanbase. You're acting as if all fans of Lewis send out death threats. It's like me accusing all dutch fans of Max being racist and sending Lewis racist messages.

Obviously it would be ridiculous to tar an entire fanbase with the same brush.

Obviously not all fans are the same, and it's pretty common for the vocal/insane minority to shed a bad light on the quieter majority, but the only way to reply to Scam is to match his insanity.

F1 is a cut-throat business for sure, but Redbull have taken it to extremes with their behaviour and treatment of drivers, teams, fans and the whole of F1. This has entirely been under the reign of Horner which reached it's worst in season 2021 with the Max vs Lewis shenanigans. Excuse me whilst I have zero sympathy for Horner. People posting comments like:

Amazing how much hate for RB there is on here.

It's almost obsessive psychosis...

are in complete denial and are entering protection mode for Redbull trying to fight a corner which is completely void of any morals, joy or backbone. Redbull have completely cheated and employed underhand and dirty tactics off the track and on. They are hated for good reason.
Perhaps under new management they can seek to find a happier place and try to undo what is essentially rot to the core currently.
