I went for the ceramic ones, got them for a good price (half the price of campag) They come with a plastic sleeve, you just read instructions which one to use. When ordering make sure you get the correct tooth number & brand then fit the plastic sleeve. The sleeve isn't the bushing it just clasps the bearing inner.

Thanks for that, fitted them last night, seems a better design to have them on a bearing rather than rolling on a bush.

Bearings can seize up though after nasty wet rides, the rear derailleur catches a lot of that. I've certainly had non-functioning jockey wheels the following day.

Been out on the bike quite a bit recently and feel like I need longer handlebars. The one I have now is the standard 730mm bar that comes with the Giant Trance 3 and doesn't feel long enough. Looking for any recommendations around 800mm!

Been having a look at the Nukeproof Warhead riser bar but not sure if I'd be better going for the 800mm aluminium bar on the 780mm carbon bar?

Great ride round the Marin this morning in constant rain and some very strong winds. Still knocked an hour off my previous times though  Got a lot fitter over winter, wasn't even too knackered today.

Desperately need a new front tyre though! Wet rocks are like ice with these Ardents and I was taking the downhills very cautiously (even more so after my recent crash).

Strangely my rear tyre was still fully inflated at the end of the ride, fully inflated when I got it out of the car but flat as a pancake by the time I finished cleaning  Found 3 pinhole punctures in it so not sure why it seemed to stay inflated and then suddenly deflated, thought they'd be slow punctures from looking at them. Anyway that's 3 patches in each tube now :p

Go Tubeless, I did and haven't looked back since.

+1 — Tubeless all the way.

So I had my first ride since breaking my wrist this morning.

It's very muddy at QECP at the moment so I was never going to be breaking any PBs anyway, but I was definitely taking it easy.

I had planned to come out of the wrist-break period fitter than I went into it, and I was on track for this, but not being able to use the turbo for the last four weeks hasn't helped in that regard.

The 50mm stem is a revelation compared to the old 80mm mind. It's so much easier to get your weight low and over the back wheel.

I used the new wrist guard (Troy Lee Designs WS5205) and it definitely gave me a lot of support. My wrist is still quite stiff and sore now though, just going to have to keep working at it.

It feels so good to be back on the bike!

Another +1 for tubeless

Pulled this blighter out the other week

New XT brakes arrived from wiggle finally. Going by the sticker code they are newer than the last set. I bled myself using epic bleed solutions full bleed but with proper shimano funnel. Made sure there were no more bubbles by spending a lifetime on each brake!

I think it was Begbie who bought a set too and i said it doesnt come with barb or olive, i was wrong! The barbs already in the hose and the olives already in the lever. You just put the hose in the lever and do up, thats all. What a douche i was, though it says this no where! Because of this though you will 100% need to bleed as its impossble not to introduce air into the system.
