Mountain Biking

Fun day up at Rogate again... one of the bonuses of riding there, is that there's always a photog there :p

Howard from Pedal 'n Spoke posted this evening that the trails are running nicely after a dry week. I'm hoping to get out on Sunday myself. If Pitch is still super gloopy we could always head out towards Leith, that tends to hold up a bit better I think.

And indeed the trails were generally running very nicely. Managed to re-dislocate my shoulder with a particularly energetic pump on the bars though, and then again later on as it was obviously weaker. Reckon it's a bit jiggered.

Is it better to get a higher specced bike from a none big brand (ie Planet X, Decathlon, Evans home brand) or to go with a lower specced bike from a big brand like Trek, Specialized, Scott etc. ?

For the same price you can get Forks that cost 3 time at much on a none branded bike like Rockshox Revelation instead of the lower end XC 32 or Recon

Ouch!

Depends what you want, really. Most lower specced big brand bikes will be crap frames anyway.

On One isn't a bad frame from what I've heard and if you can, within budget, get one and have a decent spec then do that would be my choice,

Thanks. I was told in Evans by someone who seemed to know their stuff that the frame didnt matter too much as most were similar for around £1000 and that the main things were the forks, brakes, gears/derailers and wheels

You ideally want the best frame you can get, all bike parts can be replaced and mostly end up that way. Decent frame, wheelset and forks. The rest IMO can be replaced at a later date if not great.

Well bike park wales yesterday was extremely wet and cold, but still stupidly fast and fun. My shoes were full of freezing water from 9:30 till around 4 but didnt bother me, too much fun. Check at around 1:20 in the vid link below, some dude hitting 50 shades like a bawse
