So when will these bad boys be available from OCUK?
$1000 is £750 or something around that figure. Too much for me.
^it's Singapore dollars retro, $1spd = 50p roughly.
Titan is nvidias baby much as the 690 is/was, they want it kept 'as is' by all partners, its a shame for the consumer, but let's face it, a stock lightning is likely to match/beat a stock titan, unless you need the 6gb memory, it's a no brainer to buy the lightning for ~£200 less.
The new stumbling block is the news amd are certain to release their high end hd9000 cards in around 6 weeks time.
I don't think elpida is going to be much of a problem, msi will have their reasons for picking it over hynix/Samsung.
I think 780's need about 13% extra clock speed to match Titan, that's not much at stock speeds but a big ask for the pro overclockers.
I have an MSI 780 TF with Elpida and it's weak, I'm not an serious overclocker but for me it seems so temperature sensitive and just falls over taking the card with it unlike Samsung which gives plenty of warning.
Apparently some have been using this because Samsung is short supply, bet your life cheaper alsostrange Asus managed to get some for their Direct CU 780's.
It's $1000SGD so will be around £500 exVAT at current exchange.
The main rumour I'd been hearing is that Samsung chips were being snapped up mostly by amd's board partners, which is where the suggestion of shortages came from, though neliz said earlier in the thread that both Samsung and hynix were all readily available. For all we know the elpida ic's being used could be highly binned parts, in which case it shouldn't be much of an issue, but as with everything, we won't know for sure until it's tested![]()
It will fit if your current lightnings do, that's all I can say![]()
