MSI UK Details its Sandy Bridge Exchange Program

My board is getting collected from me this week under standard replacement. When they come to collect it if I have the motherboard in it's original box with accessories etc is that all the packaging I need or do I need to put it in another box or bag or something aswell?

Probably best to at least try and stick it in something else, like a big Jiffy bag at the least.

I just wrapped the original box in thick brown paper.

I didn't need to send the accessories back, just the motherboard.

Make sure you put the plastic protector back on the CPU socket.

I will bubble wrap the box and put it in a posting bag just to be safe, think I have the plastic CPU cover in the box, surly not neeeded if it gets scrapped though? My mate took his B2 Asus board back to a local shop for exchange and forgot to remove his CPU, I won't make that mistake lol :D

If the CPU pins get damaged you'll have difficulty with the swap as I'm sure the motherboard has to be working regardless of what they plan to do with it afterwards.

If they receive a board with damaged CPU pins you're going to have the hassle of sorting that out.

Got my replacement/upgrade today, all installed ok and no need to reinstall Windows swapping a C45 for a GD65 - although it did make me reactivate it. I can only hope the collection and refund goes as smoothly ;).

I see no problem I have found the cover thanks.

Just received my advanced replacement boards all seemed to go smoothly, MSI seem to be on the ball. These kind of things inspire confidence in customers to try and buy products. I would suggest that there was an option to choose a delivery day but other than that keep up the good work :)

For those wondering about collection packaging, my boards were delivered in plastic courier bags, no padding etc. just in the retail boxes. I will put the retail boxes inside another box but that is probably unnecessary...

Contacted UK MSI today by phone. Was told to expect within the 2 weeks before I get the paypal request and then I have 30 days in which to pay after which its cancelled. And for those wanting to know, the cost of upgrading from the C45 to the GD-65, its 160

to clarify, the cost is not £160, the paypal pay request is £160 but once excahnged you would be refunded £125 so the cost is £35

Hi Scott.

Good to see your still looking after everyone on this forum.

I must say that the MSI exchange program seems to have been handled a lot better than some of the other manufacturers.

You've also allowed people to upgrade to a higher spec. motherboard which must be a bonus to some.

Yes just realised this, could have been tempted by the GD80 nut a bit late now. Not that the GD65 isn't a good board, looking forward to the builds:)

Just received my advance replacement, old one due to be collected tomorrow. Seems daft the collection couldn't be arranged at the same time as the delivery but I'm sure that decision's nothing to do with the local support staff.

That's really the whole point of advanced replacement.

You receive the new motherboard, have time to fit it and then arrange collection when you're ready.
