MSI's X570 Tomahawk May Become Go-To OC Board??

Hi guys,
Hoping to get my 5900X and this board soon and have a question. Can the bios be updated if the cpu isn't supported but the cpu is fitted in the board?

I know you can update the BIOS without the CPU. I was wondering if the same procedure would work with a CPU installed. The reason I ask is that I am using a custom water loop and its easier to fit the block with the motherboard and chip outside the case. If for some reason I need to update the bios then this would be the situation.

Many thanks
Hi, installed my 5600x cpu along with ram. Got the led debug light for the cpu light up which meant it didn't recognise the cpu. Anyway...updated the bios no problem with both cpu & ram still installed. HTH . Andy

I have to say this is one of the most stable and reliable boards I’ve ever owned so far. It’s been amazing. The only thing I don’t like is the way it looks  I keep finding myself look at more expensive boards just because of the aesthetics and 1 more Nvme slot...need to stop myself from doing a potentially pointless upgrade (!).

Same here I haven't ordered this yet I have 5800x arriving soon so was deciding what board to go with it I thought the same about the looks

But for the price and how highly it's rated with power and vrm can't dismiss this but prefer the look of the gigabyte x570 ultra and MSI x570 unify both cost more but have 3 m.2 slots would I have need to use all I doubt it but nice to have the option if I do

Installed it. Banged all my previous OC and mem tweaking settings in (got the inputting of all that down to a fine art at this point). CB r20 run within a couple of points of best, going to do some GTA V later and see if it's still stable.

Does anyone else's board reset the network speed to 100mbps every now and again? I thought the issue was solved but it happened again last night. Only way I could get it back to full speed was by disconnecting the cat cable from the board and connecting it again so it negotiates the correct speed again. In Windows I've tried ethernet set to auto negotiate, 1000/1000mbps and 2.5gbps but every so often it drops to 100/100mbps.
Using latest realtek lan driver.

Not something I have noticed. It’s on all day so will monitor what it does. I will report back if I experience any issues

It would happen quite often before. I'm on Virgin 350 get get download speeds of around 48MB/s and first noticed it when all my downloads where suddenly about 12MB/s but wifi was still full speed. After installing newer drivers I didn't get the issue for a month or two but as I said above it suddenly happened again. Restarting my router doesn't fix it. I have to unplugged from my board and connect again to regain full speed. Installed the latest driver from Realteks site last night which is newer that the one from MSI so we'll see how this goes now.

Is anyone using the 7C84v163(Beta version) BIOS? Released 2021-04-12. I'm interested in knowing how it's performing. I am on the previous stable version and have had USB issues, so wondering if it's worth the upgrade, or if the beta aspect of it just trades my problems for something else.
