Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Need a bit of help,

Just building the talon tricopter frame from hobbyking, when i ordered the frame from HK i ordered a spare set of arms, these arms are slightly longer then the original, so i dont know if i should start with the longer arm or should i start with the shorter arms. Will be doing FPV flying and want it to be stable.

Thank you all about the charger

I do have a brand new Ripmax Sigma EQ Eco 50W in the box but unsure if it's okay for the set-up.

Could this be used to charge all 8 via a Ripmax Sigma EQ Eco and the parallel board?

Spend a bit extra and get one of the carbon or carbon look fiberglass frames. The double decker design gives much more space for attaching all you need. And they are almost unbreakable.

Im thinking of getting a quadcopter to make some nice aerial videos of landscape, im an absolute novice and it will only get very occasional use so dont want to spend more than £40, any suggestions? :)

You will only get a hubsan x4 for that money, For aerial video your looking at hundreds of pounds.

Save up more money. That's like trying to buy a porsche for under £100.

haha :p Ok then, let me rephrase:

Im thinking of getting a quadcopter to play around with and have the capability of taking video, im an absolute novice and it will only get very occasional use so dont want to spend more than £40, any suggestions? :)

But I want something that will be easy to see at night. And at the price it's not a big deal if I have to replace it. The big thing are the lights if I'm honest.

I have a hubsan x4 H107L and its really fun however pretty fragile. Spares are easy to get though. The newer camera ones seem to be pretty good as long as you get the HD version.

Hows your soldering? If your not a ham fisted ape like me its really easy to add any lights you want to any frame.

There are carbon frames with lights in too.

The Syma X5C-1 seems to be the quad of choice for cheapo aerial video. Have a look on Youtube as there are a few examples of video from one. The quality of the picture isn't going to set the world alight but it's halfway decent and certainly good enough to show your mates and have a laugh with.

So it turns out my battery was fine, hooked up to my friends charger it read out at 9.8v and charged to 12.6 fine so I'm happy as the 1300mah 45-90c nanotech are a swine to find in stock without being 5 or 6 pound over priced. Also chuffed as my mate had a 2200mah for my 9xr pro to.

Spent many many hours last night setting up the telemetry but now it is all working superbly between the naze32, D8rii plus and 9xr pro. I have to say though that the documentation around this combo is almost non existent on the net and it took me 45 minutes just to figure out the quad had to be armed to send the lipo voltage over the receivers serial port.

The D8RII plus is too large but I will use that as a excuse later on to build a larger quad, maybe a vtail. The naze32 outputs it's frsky telemetry to the serial port of the receiver reserved for the frhub so I would like to know if the naze full has the ability to output all of its telemetry to that ie: GPS etc.

If that 2200mah is a LiPo, be careful leaving it in the TX. It's quite easy to leave it turned on and over discharge the battery. Can cause all sorts of problems!

Yes, the naze will output all of it's telemetry (alt and direction if you have a full naze, gps if one connected) to the rx as it already does this via mavlink protocol to an osd if you connect one. Not sure if you will need to use softserial or not. Probably best to look on the multiwii or rcgroups thread on the naze32.

There is also a hack you can do to the TX to add a bluetooth module that will then let you get the Telemetry on your phone, I think. Have a look on youtube for found it:

I'm considering a new charger that can supply over 330W and ~20A for <£100 not including the power supply. Single channel is fine, dual channel is a bonus.

There's a few on Hobby King but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?
