Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Lots of first world problem anger on the DJI forums about the wait time. The reasoning appears to be a combination of a component that needed to be fixed and then production not being able to meet demand after that. They think that they can fulfil orders this week by the end of the year, and orders before then earlier. If I can get my mid-October order by Christmas then I'll be happy :)

It does seem like general production is behind though, as accessories and spare components are also affected.

I've got a late September order. Who knows when that will arrive. Oddly enough I ordered the Mavic after being put off by the Karma not being available to order until the end of October. After seeing early reports of the karma I'm glad I went with the Mavic. Just need to get hold of it now. Hope it doesn't turn into another Zano.

There are some users on the DJI forums who had pre-orders from the announcement and who have received their Mavics. Fingers crossed!

Very quick edit of a flight taken at a local disused quarry on Sunday. Not too sure why some of my panning is a tad jerky here and there as I was trying to be as smooth as possible and the SD card is a Class 10 Sandisk Extreme. Not had any previous issues with this card so not sure why it did it here. I did this fumbling around in Davinci Resolve which I haven't used for a while so I think I mucked up some rendering settings here and there, so that could be why. Anyhoo.......nice empty place to fly. Didn't take the bird up too high as it was very gusty.

oh dear me - another nail in the coffin

http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/gopro-karma-recall-48556/

Citing an “intermittent power failure during operation” as the reason for the recall, GoPro is asking all consumers to stop using the drone immediately. It estimates that around 2,500 units are being recalled. There's no word yet on whether any customers have already been affected by the issue, but we'll update with more details when we get them. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

What I find more worrying is that they only managed to shift 2500 of them. That says to me that the market just isn't there for a GoPro branded drone.

Your answer is below :)

Why would you go for the gopro, dji toyaly out classed them days after it was announced.

The Mavic was announced, and DJI took pre-orders before it was ready, to avoid losing sales to the Karma.

The Karma has only been available for just over 10 days.

One of the reasons I didn't buy it initially (before I knew of the Mavic) was that I could even order until the end of October, then I'd still have to wait.

The Mavic I could pre-order and will be with me on Monday at the latest.

DJI put the price up of the Mavic by £100 today due to exchange rates. Pre orders not affected.

Not just the Mavic, the phantom went up and all accessories. 10% across the whole range.

Well, it was inevitable what with the pound tanking. It's only going to get worse as the enormity of the task ahead of our country becomes more evident.

Pre-orders aren't affected because DJI took the money already at the point of order, even when they knew that they were not shipping!

No they didn't, at least not in my case.

I was a pre-order and my account was not debited at or near the time of order. My card was only charged once the products had begin shipping. Not to be confused with when my order was shipped.

Of course the very definition is of a 'pre-order' is something that isn't yet available or released. I'm not sure why you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about DJI. Have you been burnt by them in the past?

Hey all,

Been out the game for a while, although my brothers girlfriend is asking if there are any multi-rotors on the market at the moment that are between £100-£150 maybe £200 that would carry a gopro and get good footage.

Iv not had any involvement other than a 250 racing build which I sold earlier this year, and a DJI F450 which I had built from scratch with a Naza V2 GPS, it would be a lot more for something like this.

I think she is after a prebuilt one, however no idea about whats good or not or available on the market and if something for £100-£150 is not going to be worth it
