Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

How do you correct it?? In flight or when on the ground??

Saw a YouTube video showing how to fix it by holding the c2 button and using the right hand wheel to correct the tilt.

Yeah, that's it. Or you can go through the menu settings too. If you're going to get serious about video with the Mavic then these settings are really useful, as you can adjust the gimbal rate and create some really cinematic shots.

Yep been spending the evening learning about different settings with video and pictures.

I definitely need to get some filters for the mavic. When I took the mavic out earlier today, the video I recorded looked really washed out. To be fair it was a very bright sunny day and the camera on the mavic really struggled to get any sort of detail ie as I tilted the camera up to the horizon, there were buildings in the distance and the Mavic's camera struggled to show it. Weird thing is about 2 seconds the building me appeared in the video.

No I don't use the histogram but I'll try using it from now on.

Thanks for the yt link, I'll have a look at that later.

The other link is the one I was looking at earlier.

Consider getting a lens hood too, in order to avoid bright light entering the side of the lens. Plenty on eBay for a couple of quid.

Ended up buying one off amazon, got it today and fits perfectly fine. Even in the same colour as the mavic so that's a bonus.

Was planning on taking it out earlier today but high winds and lots of rain probably not a good combination lol.

Hopefully by weekend I'll get some good weather to fly it in.

This may have been discussed, but I've not had a chance to dive through the thread properly yet, hopefully will do later.

I'm interested in just getting something pretty basic to play with, nothing fancy. Is there anything half decent for around £100(ish) with usable video (preferably live feed to a phone?)?

After my Bebop 2 experience was so short I thought id be put off but I am now considering getting another drone, loved the bebop flying but in all honesty the camera was at best average, as much as I would like a mavic I cant quite justify spending that much yet, was thinking of a DJI Phantom Standard just wondering what else is out there around the £500 or less, the DJI is £419 atm at the rain forest so seems pretty decent value

Yes I spotted that last night whilst looking on youtube although i'd definitely want the controller so that would add a bit I guess

New to drones. Seems as though flying times are 6-10mins for low to medium priced drones. This is a pretty short flying time. How to you cope with this, you have little time to capture anything. Any tips?

Be careful with the sun hoods for the Mavic. Apparently there is an air intake for the fans by the camera, and some of these hoods block the entrance.

going to buy a drone for camera footage this weekend, complete newb to it all.

Obvious choice is the DJI phantom 4? or a yuneec typhoon h?

any others i should look at?

Don't underestimate the Mavic Pro. Especially for portability and ease of flight. I've seen people on other forums moving from the P4 to the Mavic. It's a cracking piece of kit.

thanks for that, bought one earlier from maplins, so compact compared to the rest perfect for me

played around with it in the garden today but its quite windy amazing how stable it is . Got all the batterys on charge ( went for the go further pack) and will take it up the field tomorrow to have a play about cant wait to go and do some nice shots over the local lakes etc when im used to it

Definitely consider a lens hood / shade if you're going to use the Mavic for photography in bright, sunny conditions.

Once you learn the limitations of the camera on the Mavic you can have a lot of fun with it.

Anyone feel it feasible to build a decent photography quad (read: not a dslr, something like a gopro) for sub £200?

I would have a transmitter to control the quad, just need everything else. I have goggles/screen

Maybe just about. You wouldn't get a gimbal for that budget so you'd be stuck with a hard-mounted camera.

Yeah that's my thought too.... Not a good one anyway.

Shame, as I'd like to get into the photography side a bit more but dont think I have the funds to purchase a phantom really...

I'll have to keep digging around
