Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

The fact that it moves the naze inside the tri, marrys up with the pdb and would still leave room to mount a d4r-ii receiver inside too if you wanted make it a must have for a fresh v3 build to be honest, it is such a low profile main frame anyway that it would be super clean and pretty much the only tri worth having. he has also moved his tilt mechanism for the tale from 3d printed to injection moulded so I can't see any point buying any other tri now.

You will have more that saved the weight of the servo of you get the integrated boards.

I'd need to brush up on my soldering skills to avoid trashing them!

Going out for a quick flight with the 250 and 450 now, before I go shopping then come home and revise more

Mobius should be turning up today but I wont get a chance to use it properly until after Monday

Flight with the 450 was good,

Flight with the 250, not so good, came down broke 4 props, mud inside the motors, and it looks like on my Diatone power board, the battery positive terminal pad has had the bronze pad stripped off clean with the wire, and whats left now still looks like a pad, but its silver, is this not going to work anymore?

Can it be fixed assuming the silver pad underneath will not work?

EDIT: Just tested it with the battery wire, yes it does still work with the bronze pad stripped off (the broze pad is still attached to the wire) however touching the wire to the silver layer of the pad still on the board powers the 250

Going to re-solder the battery connections, and cable tie it

Well, after bragging about how resilient it was, I was flying my Hubson X4 at lunch today and suddenly it started losing altitude. Landed it safely and now it won't take off again, looks like one of the motors might be under-performing :(

Currently charging to try again shortly...

Well my mobius has arrived, and my micro SD card, impressed :D although I suddenly realised that, my connection at the house share im in now is ****, will have to do video editing at home, and upload in work for these 1080p files.

Going to see what its like in the car later driving to the takeaway, see how it handles the dark

Like the wide angle lens

The batteries don't have the best lifespan, might be worth checking them with a multimeter.

Just ordered a Taranis X9D plus to replace my Turnigy 9XR.

Is everyone here just using OpenTX on theirs?

Having just come from a 9XR-Pro I can appreciate the massive benefit you will feel replacing your 9XR. The Tx is just phenomenally better in every single way.
The separation you feel on the yaw and throttle channels is miles ahead of the turnigy unit and the throttle resolution alone is like night and day. the Gimbals are of a different class also and the joy of having five 3 way switch's vs the 9X's one can not be understated. I made a massive boo boo buying my pro as after the DJT module, battery, telemetry cable and the exclusion of a Tx strap the price difference is negligible yet the gap in quality substantial. This though not something as pronounced for you.

I am using the stock opentx it shipped with and although slightly differant to the turnigys software find it just as easy and to use and similer enough to have a good idea how and what does what. The only thing i had to look up was binding to receivers, easy enough though.

Really looking forward to using it, like you say I have heard really good things including gimbals etc. I did have the frsky telemetry screen attached to my 9XR with voltage etc but even so be nice to have proper voice warnings and battery voltage read out while I have the fatsharks on.

Will just stick to OpenTX in that case wasn't sure if there was a better alternative, thanks.

Initial test of a quick mount of the Mobius, in 1080p mode but compressed for youtube.

I am going to work on some vibration dampners to stop the jello footage. Not done this properly yet, I dismounted by FPV gear which was mounted temporaraly and tried this.

Eventually the FPV and Mobius will be mounted. Not really happy with the quality it came out like on youtube. But I cant upload videos at my place, this took ages for a 300mb file.

If im doing stuff in HD I will have to upload in work.
