Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Took the Tricopter out yesterday to get some more practice in acro mode. Blowing the grass cuttings about is too much fun.

Probably going out again in a bit.

Had a flyaway today, got it back, smashed pretty bad.

Top plate
1 white arm
Full set of props
E300 ESC
E300 Motor
Landing gear
Zenmuse clip
Zenmuse cable
GPS mount

Motor and esc I might get lucky and they be ok.

Debating what to go for landing gear wise now

Any idea what caused it? What flight mode were you in?

Lol well that was some fun flying fpv with the 450 along muddy coastline. Got a bit of footage. Was going to change filming further up, but I could heat something clipping the props slightly. So came in to land. Misjudged the sand /stone by 5 to 10 meters landed right in the coastal mud. All over the cameras and the quad. Might try and clear some off and get some more in

This thing is going to need a good clean when I'm back. Fpv camera and Mobius too

I think it was you who said you use an apm 2.6 board

Any ideas on this mines developed a weird glitch every now and again mine will throttle up not enough to fly away but to hover on the spot and then not respond to any other commands for around 2 to 3 seconds at a time

Anyway I can find out the cause of it that you know off its using an external compass I'm thinking that's the cause at the moment

Do any of you running KKs know of a way to increase the stick scaling on self level mode only?

I've turned my gains well down and retuned the manual mode and its much better, but flipping to SL now feels really sluggish. Whacking full stick takes the craft about a second to tilt to about 20 degrees and that's it. As I'm using SL as a failsafe to flick too if I'm in trouble having such dummed down controls makes it difficult. It will struggle to fly against even slight wind.

If I push the P Gain of the SL up will that help? How about the P Limit?

Video coming up, what do people do if they get mud inside the motor? on the wire bits? I have had a bit of wet mud go in them which dried rapidly, have tested the motors they still work fine. Whats the best way to get it out?

Let it dry and then get a soft brush or something non metallic in there. I cleaned mine out with a cable tie and a cotton bud.

Gutted I can't get out and fly today it's been fantastic weather all day :(

My qav is getting open hart surgery and I need servo extensions for my tri.

For the past 4 days my usual flying spot, right next to where I live, has been populated by strange multi-colored creatures chasing a ball around and occasionally kicking it and shouting... 10 battery's fully charged just waiting... not looking forward to having to put them back to storage charge the boring way. :(

Cheers Skeeter, will give that a go

There will be more good weather to come, dont worry :) Iv tried to clean a lot off my F450, and landing legs, and camera's, done as much as I can today, going to have to take some of the landing mounts off and the top plate of the DJI and give it a go clean, luckily it was only the front two arms, landing legs and props that went in. Although it flicked mud everywhere. You can see where it came down right at the end of the video.

I wanted to do a LOS landing, hovered it above my head took of the goggles and it was right infront of the sun, so had to put them back on. Then I started hearing what sounded like clipping on the props (I thought, hmm most of my wires were out the way! no where near the props, better bring it down asap). So brought it down but misjudged the landing. It was too late.

It was only around 5 meters out but walking to it, my foot sank up to my ancles (will deffo steer clear of landing on this stuff in the future!)

Although it has sparked me to start finding more filming locations.

Although one thing, I need to test different methods of getting rid of the video jello vibration. Got a few things im testing.

Up the video quality to max if its on low.

Went out today again. Had some fantastic fun, finally PIDs seem to be completely dialed in. I can flip a few meters from the ground LOS and it just stops in place following the roll. Added 20% expo on the remote and it's just feeling spot on. Now running the Naze32 with cleanflight PID controller #5, oneshot and the SunnySky's = awesome performance. It's also behaving well with both 3s and 4s batteries :)

Was trying out the HQ 5 x 4 x 3 blade props today, pretty happy with them (since I ran out of 6x3s but they are expensive. On the look for 6x3s, want to try the 5x4.5s too.

Nice video DJ, looks like a cracking spot to fly.

Well I have reworked my frame, used the spare plate form my old base plate as a new underbelly where all of my electronics will be mounted, I manufactured some arm extensions from the old arms I cut off to allow me to run the 6" props and have lowered the top deck 5mm while removing half of it to better accommodate a 1800mah battery.
I have ordered some 6x45 gemfans, new 25mm aluminium black standoffs and a new motor to replace my left rear as the bearing had gone and a full set of stainless screws in the correct sizes for the added thicknesses of the plates. I reworked the way the camera mounts to the top plate now and reinforced the arms so I shouldn't have much issue cracking them any more..... I hope!. My mini transmitter should arrive this week along with my mini 20a esc's so should be able to start retuning the whole thing by Thursday, it took me nearly 2 weeks to tune it last time:(

All this and hobbyking are out of stock on the nanotech 1800mah 65-130c battery's, hhuh! Oh and I cant buy a afro linker to flash my new esc's with oneshot enabled simon k %^%&%$^&$%^&$

New lumenier team pilot...
Makes me want to go fly!

OK...

So I have had a great weekend flying.

got some nice footage of my Bros house and some beach action.

Now I need more power and longer battery life.

I am using 2200 lipos and a gopro so quite a heavy cam for the 450.

What can I do to upgrade?

thanks

Tony

Cheers, still working on maintaining some smooth flying during filming had a few jerky moments, one of which was my manual radius limiter. But getting there, have a few things I'm going to try to get rid of the vibration, but will see how that goes.

This is probably one of the not so great coastlines, I'm not far from the coast, so have some great locations around me that i plan to fly. this is the end of the river Severn near Cardiff so its still really a river, and muddy but still looks great

So will it take the same time to tune everything again? That's a pain, hope you get everything back and sorted though. And I know the feeling with hobbyking and stock. Annoying

Tony I'm using 4s 5000mah 25 c. I don't use gimbal but have a Möbius and fpv and landing skids

In fact iv made a bit of money this weekend so going to get a second battery for my 450 so I will have 2 for this model and I just ordered 2 batteries for my 250 so I have 3 now for that

Struggling to find decent props anywhere.. Anyone got a good source for 6030s? What are people flying at the moment?
