Muse's new album

Havent got the single but i heard its for sale - anyone see them on Jonathon Ross the other night? Possibly the worst Muse performance i've ever seen. And what the hell were they wearing? Soul destroying.

Oh, and Mr.Orb i've seen no evidence of it being leaked?

It's all over the internet.

Just been listening to some Showbiz...

I'd been getting used to the newer stuff but I have to say it does have the same appeal at all as the atmosphere Showbiz whips up for me, maybe it's just to do with relating the older stuff to nostalgia etc, but maybe it's just not as good. Can't decide.

Oh right, I know some of the stuff they played live is out but was unaware it was leaked. I'm not fishing by the way, it's only a few days now :)

I know what you mean though, sunburn and muscle museum still send a shiver down the old spine. Other songs like Filip etc bring back horrible memories for me.

Still, musical misery, its what makes my world go round :)

I listened to Muscle Museum the other day - one *** of a song, its awesome :)

Oh and New Born - a song made for live gigs. Again, stunning.

everything i've heard since origin of symmetry (except Stockholm Syndrome) sucked. i honestly didnt see them going the way they've gone...their music seems so gutless now...i can't imagine him writhing around on-stage with a synthesiser in hand, covering Britney Spears songs. they should release a guitar album...that's what they're good at - i hate this experimental stuff

No, he's got an X-Y directional controller pad built into his 2 latest guitars.. The M1D1 Manson and the Black Kaos Manson. The XY pad is linked upto a Korg Kaos midi pad, from which he can controll all the synth effects and such.

So he can quite easily controll the Synth effects from the board of his guitar. It works too, from the performances of the new album that i've seen live they've gone pretty well.

They've played Knights of Cydonia on the radio as well, which is the finishing track on their album according to track listings. That track is simply immense, ithe live version is aboslutely rocking as well.

ok, so he can synth standing up, but i still think it's not a patch on their earlier stuff, and their more guitarey stuff. the live performances potentially sucking was just a byproduct of all this synthy stuff.

I do see where your coming from, and it is totally different to their older stuff... But the live performances are still most certainly top notch, just because they have new material doesn't mean they're suddenly going to get rid of their old stuff!

i think we're kinda getting a bit confused with each other here. i'm sure they'll still play their old stuff...i just really can't get into their new stuff. i tried Absolution again the other day, and I just really couldn't get into it again! shame, because i used to really like them.

I did misread :o

There's 3 songs that i actually like on Absolution, the album really wasn't one of their best at all. With their newer new stuff though, from what i've heard i really like it. It seems as if they've just gone all out with this new album, stopped thinking 'oh but can we play this one live?' and just let all hell break loose on it. I guess it's not to everyones liking, but what can you do...

If you saw the TOTP performance of Supermassive Black hole you can see that the song has already evolved from when they recorded it, it's got a much muddier guitar sound... I really like it :) Wasn't overly keen on the single.

I agree with you there mate... I could never have imagined Muse ending up like this when I first heard OoS. Absolution has a few decent tracks, 'Time is Running Out', 'Falling Away With You', 'Stockholm Syndrome', 'The Small Print' and 'Thoughts of a Dying Atheist'. The rest is extremely poor though and what I've heard of the new album is absolutely dire too. The songs are overly long and really boring.

Muse used to be extremely engaging live but now it's just a carbon copy performance of any other show you could see due to the amount of samples they rely on. Seeing them dressed like fashion dummies is a hard pill to take now as well.

Those songs are the only ones I like from Absolution as well. :) Their performance on Jonathan Ross was alright, still don't think anything of the song though. Chris singing with that weird effect on was pants, and if you took Matt's singing out of the song, you would never think it was Muse playing. Their new hairstyles and clothes are too emo.
