My new Dell 2405FPW - pictures & first impressions

Wait a sec, I have BF2 on a single stock 7800GTX with everything maxed out and get a decent enough framerate that I couldn't tell you if it was 30 or 50 or 100, so yeah, and i never have any lag at all.

Ive not seen a TFT that doesnt motion blur Im afraid - including the 2405FPW (tho its not that bad, but still noticeable unlike the ghosting) - I presume its just inert to the technology...

It is at 1600x1200 stretched to 1920x1200 on HP f2304 23".

System got 9567 when overclocked big time on 3dmark05 (with standard settings) and runs BF2 as I said, no lag, and perfectly for my eyes.

To be quite honest it does slightly annoy me as I sometimes like to autoscroll long webpages/documents slowly and skim read them to get the gist.

If its just a bit too fast its slightly garbles - its still readable, just not skimmable - usually when its slow enough to read easily its just scrolling a bit too slow :/...

The monitors brillant and well worth the money - just theres some very minor niggles - when you spend this kind of money most people rightly expect a perfect product, but I guess with most things in life theres always a level of acceptable compromise...

I went from a decent iiyama VM Pro 451 and really havent looked back - now Im looking for a HDTV for downstairs ;).

Huh? Your playing BF2 with all the effects turned up at 1920 x 1200 resolution on one AGP 6800GT? No way!

I get about 7 FPS when I try that with my (PCI) 6800GT.

i didnt say with everything turned up, prolly would end up burning the house down :D its with the normal settings game had upon install it plays fine enuff at native screen res without looking naff.

some screenies to show what the game looks like for me 1, 2 3

:D

i think the CRT is sold, but if i really dont like the 2405 (which is highly unlikely) i know i can get a better CRT than i have now and still have money left over if i sell the 2405

dvd recorder is sitting here waiting to use its component outputs :D

Would be interested to hear how the component inputs do - thinking of getting a dvd hd recorder myself as using the dvdrom is way too cumbersome for the odd 1/2 an hour of Red Dwarf...

No doubt Ill catch you on MSN soon

then next year sky HD hopefully :) would look awesome on the 2405

OMG these things look huge.
It probably wont fit on my computer desk with the tower standing by it.
Was wondering tho whether one of these puppies would be better suited for things like photoshop, premiere etc or 2 x 19" LCDs?

Any suggestiong guys?

They're bloody bright aren't they? I've just got one today and it's much brighter than my 22" widescreen TFT. Overall I'm very impressed. It's bright and clear and seems to have a very fast response. I'm running DVI at 1920x1200 on an FX5900XT and I have my other TFT on the D-SUB. Horizontal split is easy. Immediate problems are the poor quality buttons, the memory card slots being on the side and the lack of a remote control (my other TFT has touch buttons and a remote). Great value for the price though, and highly recommended especially with the generous warranty :)

I would love to try one, but after sending my FPW2005 back 2/3 times I can't be bothered dealing with dell again. Hopefully I should have my Eizo before next friday (I want it now and need a monitor anyway BAH!)

Two? What for? :)

I've just been using my 22" next to it but TBH I can't be bothered carrying on. I'd rather stick with the single monitor having tried both out side-by-side.

To be honest the early 2005FPW's were crap, I sent 3 back as well, very happy with my 2405FPW though!

There is a spare DVI port on my 7800GTX and its feeling lonely!, to be honest I think another one would be complete overkill but hey we're all tempted to spend too much money when it comes to 'puters.
