if you find black bars anoying thenyou might as well use mpc or vlc, both freebie progs but lets stretch the picture. long as you are ok with the strecthing you get
have had a look in power dvd and can change some settings there which stretches the picture. Just a bit annoying with the lines there. Thanks for quick replys
My poor NEC1760NX is sitting on the floor. My brother has offered £25 for it Should I be a nice brother and give it to him for that, as its Christmas and I am always too nice to him...
I have no dead pixels and I am very happy with it. I have not had time time to test any games yet, but I will soon
Tried a dvd which looked good. I am going to have a look at software upscalling and maybe think about connecting a dvd player like the Denon 1920 to it. TV cards is something else I am going to look into...as well as upgrading my system.
I don't know what else to say just now.... any questions?
You can always zoom the picture on DVD's so that it fills the screen completely but then you lose some of the picture information @ the sides. To do this either let the monitor fill the screen or within the DVD software player play around with the zoom function.
The most worrying thing I have found is the 2405 gives such a great picture that defects in all DVD's become visible which were not noticeable on my Dell 2001FP. No way to get ride of them either other than view the DVD's in a 800x600 window.
early impressions of the screen is that its stunning. Not played any games yet but DVDs are shockingly good and ive come from other Digital screens. The real estate for desktop work is gigantic too.
I got mine yesterday, absolutely awesome, no dead pixels, bit bright at stock settings and I never got a power cable ... are you meant to get one?
Still to do some testing with FS2004, the odd game and DVD playback, but this is looking like money very well spent, the Logitech G15 keyboard I bought seems to match the monitor extremely well
None of the OcUK 2405FPWs come with a power lead because they forget to send it (allegedly!). It should do though.
That's the only thing that I don't like about it - the brightness is too bright. I've set it lower in the ATi control panel but that's crap. When Windows starts the desktop, the display looks nice at the right gamma but then when the ATi applet starts up it goes back to default! Surely it should be the other way round. Maybe the ATi software is buggy.
Got mine hooked up about 10 minutes ago. OMFG this thing is HUGE! Was unsing a 17" Hercules Prophetview 920 Pro DVI before, going to this thing is just untrue.
It's a bit bloody bright tho from the box, what settings is everyone using?
I've put mine on the DVI on my X800XT after advice from here (the card has a normal VGA output too) wondered why Contrast was not adjustable? this is with the Omega 5.12 drivers.
I feel I need to do a bit of tweaking yet before I'm 100% happy, but so far I'm close at 97% happiness with just turning down the brightness a bit.
Thanks to Baddass for this thread, what a wealth of information is here for owners of this fantastic monitor! going to take me a while to plough through it again now that I have the monitor on my desk.
Massage the pixel Goodwin, and run a few fast moving images on the display to see if its dead or asleep.
ic1male adjust the brightness and or contrast from your graphic card instead of trying from the monitor. Also have a look at the guide from Baddass regarding calibration of the display. Good luck to both of you.
It's stuck on red and the bugger wont change sespite my best efforts
Also noticed a horizontal white line running down the left hand side of the screen and the display is lighter (it looks like light bleed) at the bottom left than it is anywhere else when I display a black screen (Half Life 2 loading a map for instance) Is this a problem for everyone or just the unlucky few?
