My new Samsung 26" LCD

Just had my 32' sammy turn up ...well earlier. Very very impressed with it atm the moment. Have watched monsters inc and the fellowship of the ring dvd's via scart. Will go and kit myself up fully with cables tomorrow and do a review soon :)

@ Dark_Angel it has all those things you listed and the zoom modes you listed

Just to help some people out who don't know what the connections are at the back, I posted some good resoution pictures of both the controller (incase anyone wants to see before buy) and also 3 shots of the back connections.

Each image is roughly 600kb.

Hope this helps, if anyone has any more photo requests or videos of it, just ask.

Erm so is the PC connection just the same VGA connection you find on your graphics card? Also where is the DVI port? And are VGA cables only on TFT monitors? as far as i'm aware all CRT monitors dont come with detachable ones.

Thanks to everyone that replied, but can I ask people one favour (to those with a PS2) if you happen to have Soul Calibur 2 or 3, could you put a picture of the game running in progressive scan mode (to get Pro scan on SC3, hold triangle and press X as the game starts to load).

I just wanna see the difference :) Thanks if you can :)

This is getting tiring now.
Please do some reading on the specs before you ask here.

VGA is a type of connection. You don't find different types of VGA. So I think you can answer that one for yourself.

Huh??? Where does it say anywhere that it has a DVI port?

Well your wrong. I have 2 CRT monitors sitting in my attic which have detachable VGA cables. If you look on OcUK you might find they sell em.

There is an HDMI port , which is very similar to DVI, however DVI doesnt carry sound integrated like HDMI is capable of doing. You can get DVI to HDMI converters ( I believe about £30) so a DVI cable can be attached to a HDMI socket.

TFT monitors now usually come with both DVI and vga connectors, however all crt monitors and budget TFT only have vga connectors

Where i got it from says:

Terminals
Digital Interface (HDMI-HDCP): x 1
Digital Interface (DVI-HDCP): x 1

PC Input D Sub 15 Pin, DVI

thats why I was under the impression, and what I meant by VGA cable being different is maybe the ones on monitors are female and male while the one i would buy would be both male connectors knowing my luck..

sorry

Don't shoot me for askin' but...

Hey guys, been followin' this thread closely cos I'm planning on getting one of these screens too! But Ive been curious about something...what the hell is the difference between the LE26R41BD (Known as Greenwich) and the LE26R41BDX (Known as Greenwich II). The fact that the codename (Greenwich & Greenwich II) is different implies there must be some difference between them? I E-mailed Samsung and they replied that
'they are the same spec but from different batches'.
Different Batches?! So they call the same TV, with the same spec a different name 'cos of the batch its from?! That doesnt make sense, surely? Does it have a newer firmware or something?! There has to be something different for it to have the mk II name to it!
If anyone knows I'd love to know!
Thanks people :)

John, sorry to not be much help but I havent seen any non x 26" ones being advertised, on the net or on the highstreet - but I was looking for the BD variety ( with Freeview built in) ie ALL the shops I googled only had either BX or BDX.

As these TV's have gone through a few phases of being completely sold out in most parts, I would think you would get a BDX (ie Greenwich II) at the very least, if not - according to Samsung - an even later batch.

Has anyone else investigated the price of HDMI switch boxes, ie so you can connect more than one hi res digital source to these tv's via the one in built port? I cant find them for less than around £200 which personally i think is wayyyyyyy too high. Anyone found any other info they can share?

If anyone can tell me how to do a proper screen shot ingame of GT legends or Serious Sam II I will post more shots, but seems a waste from a digi cam between my shaking hands and crappy camera to start with you wont get a proper idea ( or even a dvd film still if I can)

Yeah I was talking about the 26" freeview ones (But could be any for that matter). I've seen loads of sites that only sell the BD (Greenwich) models while some sell the BDX (Greenwich II) models. Both are - apparently (according to the E-mail I got from Samsung anyway) - the same spec. I know the B (Without the 'D') is the non freeview version...I just dont get the difference between the BD (Greenwich) and BDX (Greenwich II). There MUST be a difference! Seems increadibly stupid to call a TV two different model names for no reason! The 'Greenwich' and Greenwich II', to me, implies which version they are - you'd only have a Mark II of something if its changed from the original Mark 1 version, surely?!?

Im currently looking for a LCD TV pref a 26" and really like the Samsung range however im planning on mainly using it for TV/console/dvd.The viewing distance is about 2 meters (foot of my bed) will the 26" suffice or should I be looking at the 32" model?

If possible could someone post a pic approx 2m away from the screen so I can see how it looks? :)

Cheers

The 26" should be fine.
2m is about the distance i view mine from.

Got the good ol tape measure out and measured 26" across the desk im going to put it on and it's too big! about 4" out off the desk, so no chance with the 32" unless I wall mount it which I dont reallly want to do (plaster board stuff :/ )

Gonna wait till mid decemeber to buy one, hopefully the price should drop a bit.

Cheers for the help :)
