My new Samsung 26" LCD

MikeHowett, is that with the HiDef output kit? or normal connections?

That's using an IXOS Xbox component cable and I believe the output was set to 1080i in that shot. I run it at 720p now though (xbox media centre that is):)

Gutted!

My 32" Sammy never showed up today.....After wasting £29.95 on Saturday delivery.....I was told it would be here before Noon and nothing....No door chapped, no doorbell rang, no card left and no phonecall....No answer on the Depot phones either.....

City-Link......I officially hate you......Useless bunch of ***** :(

That was uncalled for, could have said it in a better manner?

Has anyone found LE26R41BDX (Freeview version) to be in stock anywhere at a decent price?

I'v been on google for a while and all the well known e-tailers are sold out :(

Desmo, where did you get yours from?

Try Pricerunner - think it should be allowed to mention this as they arent a competitor ( but I realise they could assisnt in finding one)

Looks like a few places have them in stock but prices are now approaching £700 - probably due to high demand and lack of supply.

To my mind, after having one I would easily pay £700 for the 26" version, dvd's look fabulous and with a decent grfx card, games look wonderful on the big screen - I had Serious Sam II running on it before mine was nicked, it was truelly gobsmacking

Yeah i did!

Good customer support. Spoke to them via Email and Phones and their really good. Downfall is they tell you nothing about your order despatched and so on. I've already sent an angry Email regarding todays fiasco. Not aimed at them but City-Link. I shall aim my anger at them should i find out they didn't even despatch my telly ;)

I have to say I got my Sammy from a totally independant one from yours, but delivered by City Link , was supposed to arrive on a Saturday a few weeks ago - and mine wasnt delivered then either ( CL confirmed that it arrived with them the Thursady before)- stupid thing was CL actually delivered an OCUK parcel on the same Saturday and a DVD recorder, but yet they still insisted on doing a seperate delivery for the telly - even though i paid for SAt delivery - I would question CL completely in this situ

Have you seen that the Dell W2600 can be had for £363inc. VAT and Delivery? Can't say where, but damn man thats a fantasic deal even if its not as good as the Sammy, its got 2 Scarts, DVI and is HDTV compatible.

Think about it Xbox 360 and 26" LCD TV and change from £600!

1. Put tv in standby
2. Press INFO, MENU, MUTE and then POWER on the remote
3. To get out of it press POWER again
***DON'T TOUCH ANY OF THE SETTINGS, YOU CAN BORK YOUR TV PROPER***

:)

I've seen the details on another forum, and a few issues arrise I think.

Firstly it looks god awful, ugly is the word for it.
Secondly it's 1280x768, which isn't true 16:9, (which the Sammy's 1366x768 is)
Thirdly it's only 25ms which isn't ideal for gaming.
Also it doesn't have HDMI, only DVI via HDCP

Looks are an aquired taste, if you have ot seen one in the flesh then I'd go and look at one, the pictures make it look terrible.

It's supports 720p so I think it not being 16:9 is the end of the world.

25ms is fine for TV and most console games.

So get an HDMI to DVI cable.

I was offerin it as a good cheap alternative to the Sammy at over £200 less or way more if you are paying the £700 retailers want.

A friend of mine has a 32" one of these sammys, hes not impressed with it at all, he says dvds are ok, but freeview looks blocky and awful? Also he reckons his ps2 looks worse than on a normal tv. I know its really meant for HD and all but is there any tips you can help me out with so he can get a decent pic for normal tv viewing?

Personally i've not seen it, I have myself a 42" panny viera, which is awesome, I think he kinda got used to looking at that maybe.

I passed on the Sammy for the very reason you mention, they are terrible on any SD interlaced source. Very good HD screen but no use as a Main tv to use Sky on. Obv this will change when everything is broadcast in HD (so around 15 years then ;)) I went for a Plasma and like you have said they work much better than the Sammy on SD sources.

However its not an inherent LCD problem, i just helped a family member to buy a 26" LCD and i have to say that after looking at loads of screens (mainly for sd feeds as this is the use in their case) the only one i found to be worse than the samsung on sd was a Bush lcd. The screen we went with was a Toshiba 27" that looked very good on SD and is also HD ready - cost £583 delivered and in my opinion is a much better 'TV' than the samsung. I imagine the Samsung has a poor Scaler and this is where the SD issues start. I can not deny that other than Black levels and slight smearing on HD the Samsung was very good - not as good as the Philips, Panny or Sony but they are way more expensive and as such should be better.

If your after a HD screen for PC, DVD + HD future i think the sammy is very good for the money. If you want good RGB + SD performance i would look elsewhere.
