My new Samsung 26" LCD

None dead here from what I can see, although I'll admit to not having had too close a look. Nothing immediatle jumps out though.

What firmware is the latest? And what are most people running? Ours is 11th Oct. Assuming I'm looking at the right stuff (bottom of the left hand side of info)

I have set up a few of these screens for customers and everytime I have thought what a nice screen.

Of the few I have set up I don't recall any dead pixels.

Picture is awesome through HDMI and an upscaling DVD player. RGB performance is good as is DTV (the models with the DTV tuner obviously) but analogue is pretty poor. Not that you would be watching analogue.

I wouldn't mind one but cant justify replacing my Panasonic TX28PS12C as the picture on it is awesome and I dont need to save any space. I also have 0 HD sources (besides the PC but that's not hooked up to the TV)

Got my 26" today and using it as a monitor, wow is all I can say, its huge.

Theres only one thing I can't figure and that is how to use 420p for things like xbox and ps2 because its all blocky and blurry (I suppose its running in 720p and this is the reason, its like playing a dvd on a pc) Does anyone know how to solve this?

I will post pictures soon

No I am planning to buy one but not just yet as I am getting the 360 friday. But of course I would have thought the TV would downscale itself to 420p to give a nice clear image for consoles like the ps2 and gamecube? Rather than the blocky image I see? Also the picture on freeview is good but you can still tell its not HD, which I think the TV's resolution should be adjusted to 420p again for freeview?

Same problem, my xbox games look pretty crappy, hoping my xbox360 is going to look good.

Also, where should the xbox scart be plugged in? RGB or AV?

What are the most popular settings to use also?

I'm probably getting confused with your post. But you know the xbox wont output 720 without the hi def pack. I think that goes the same for 420, but I could be wring on that one.

What games do you notice it blocky and blurry? Xbox that is. Don't have a ps2.

Need for speed underground looks really crappy on mine, all the rest look alright.

Halo 2 and Matrix Path Of Neo are the only two I have tried so far, and both look a bit blocky....i've managed to improve halo 2 a little but its not as good as it should be. I prefered it on my old CRT i think, although maybe im just so used to the clarity of this now i easily pick out bad detail. They just show up a bit jaggy and text isn't as clear, the best way I can describe it is like when you play a dvd on your PC its not as clear as it would be on CRT, just for the reason a PC monitor is much higher res than the DVD.

Jaggy is the Xboxs fault. No anti analising (spl)

Path of neo. Just got that today. Looks crap.

Halo 2 doesnt look to bad on mine. But I am using hi def pack.

Composite is the yellow cable. Red and white are the audio.

Component is 3 video cables. Red, Green and blue. And the 2 audio cables which are red and white

The 360 will come with a component cable. No need to upgrade. The best cable for it at the mo.

I plugged mine into the composite so theres no need for scart....after all that should be better quality

If it's RGB scart then composite will offer worse quality. Scart cables can hold composite signals themselves though, in which case there's no difference. It's possible that graphical problems in the actual production of the image might be less obvious when using composite because the final image is less well defined.

Composites the worst connection you can use. Bar RF.

The 360 that comes with the extras, will come with component connectors, so you can enjoy full HDTV resolution output on your Sammy.

Before my Sammy 26" was stolen I had the pleasure of watching Star Wars epIII on a HD850 dvd player with upscaling thru HDMI --- the final battle with the glorious red sky really sticks in my mind - it really has to be seen to be believed in my opinion

PC display is excellent, Serious Sam II looks incredible, I didnt get much chance to test it but I was getting slight stuttering mid leval even with 2Gb, so even though strictly speaking I shouldnt need it , I think SLI is the way to go if you want to game with this screen. As i said it could have been something else, and it wasnt a major judder, but noticable none the less.

Anyone who faults this sceen for picture quality needs their head read , or has a faulty tv, just in my opinion

I alwayst thought not using a scart connector that is supplied withthe xbox is the best way to go, anyway to use RGB with the xbox dont you need a RGB lead? Do you think then I should put my xbox scart adapter on and see if it makes any difference? However im using the ps2 with scart but thats in the rgb socket

Using a scart adapter to plug a composite and audio leads into won't make any difference to the quality. After all, you're still only feeding the TV a composite signal. Buy a proper scart pack for the xbox and you'll get a far better picture.
