My new Samsung 26" LCD

Im very interested in this samsung LCD, i've read right through all 12 pages of this thread hehehe.

I've noticed this screen has Picture In Picture capability but has anyone used it and how do they find it?

Also can anyone post some picture or video of it please.

Although i dont have the funds to buy this just yet, its looking that im going to start saving up for one :D which would mean buying one next year some time, hopefully the demand wont be so great and prices will fall or maybe something better will rear its head.

I must admit from the pictures you lot have posted it looks like an awsome TV and im planning on going out to some local shops to try and check it out in person :).

Another thing i was thinking about is what sort of power does it consume compared to a CRT monitor and what sort of heat does it give off compared to a CRT also?

Samsung 27" LE27T51BX LCD TV

I've seen this for £549.99 delievered. Is this the same as the 26" version you've all been raving about, apart from an inch bigger? This seems like an amazing deal to me, but can't help think something must be wrong because it seem pretty damn cheap. Anything I should worry about, or that is noticably different?

I guess this one doesn't have the built in freeview malarky either, cause it lacks the "D" in the title?

Thanks for your help

I've been to 3 of the big super store's to check out the 26" and 32" sammy's to see the picture quality, here's how i got on.

First off the store named after a Indian food
As i walked in i saw a 26" sammy with a Xbox 360 connected up but it was not working due to " not having the cables " pfft it was also setting off the alarms lol.

Anyways I move through the store and came across another 26" sammy with a DVD running on it, now to me it seems slighty blurry and just did'nt look as good a picture as the old TV we have in the living room, i said this to one of the people who worked there and they said "it looks fine to me" yeah you going to say that I thought to my self hehe.

Anyways I looked around and there was some hughe (by my guess) 72" LG TV which had awsome quality picture and not far from it was the 32" sammy but yet again the picture to me just did'nt look right.

I got talking to someone who actuatly knew what he was talking about and got talking about its feature and what i was planning to use it for and he droped the price from £799 to £749 which was the online offer price with free delivery.

Off i trundle to a shop named "PC" another another name for "Earth" (as in the planet

To my delight they had a 32" and a 26" side by side hooked up to there PC's so i had a fiddle around with the 26" and i must admit the picture was damn nice at a 3 to 4 foot distance but up close you could slightly see the pixels of the icons (i think it maybe was'nt set up right) anyways some young chap came over and asked did i want any help so I asked about feature and does it have Freeview (i knew it did due to the DVB letter ont he bottom left of screen) and he said "yeh thats it down there" (which he pointed to the PC which it was connected to, so... I said do you know what freeview is "errr yeah" was his reply hehehe, he then goes on to say it does not have freeview.

Basicaly the price of the 26" screen was £999.99 LOL but when bought with a PC it would cost your £650, god knows how much the PC was but it was bount to be overpriced aswell :(

Off i trundle to the car to make the next and last stop to a shop named after something similar to a Metiore only its made of Ice and Gas

Now this was far more impressive than the previous shops as it was a lot bigger and a lot more screens to look at, I found the 32" sammy sitting in the front row with a HD feed being played on it and it did look very nice but it did look a lot darker than the LCD's either side of it now and again.

Second row in was the 26" sammy which Noel Edmonds on the TV being feed with an Aerial connection and the picture really looked nice compared to the previous shops but it still looked abit funny in places now and then but was very sharpe say when it had a close up of someones face.

I went walkies aroudn this shop after getting a price match for the first shop of £749 store pick up but £22 delivery  and what do i see............. ooooo Xbox 360 white control pad sticking out... omg another one... OMG Xbox360 with CoD2 on a 26" sammy weeeeee time to play hehehe.

After going throught the demo disk with things like Need For Speed, Ghost Recon, and a few other things i was pretty impressed with the sharpness of things but CoD2 had a lot of jaggy edges which was very very very noticeable even when it was playing on HD feed.

Conculsion

Now im both very impressed and disapointed as im still not sure how good its going to be for what i want it to do (TV - FreeView, PC , DVD , Possible Xbox 360). Im still very interested in getting a new all purpose screen for this room but im having my douts

** Hands out ice packs for your burning eye's after reading all that** :D

Mine arrived this morning! Didn't get to play with it becuase I was at work until 4. Came back and unpacked the beast! First impression was the size of the thing at first I thought it was too over powering for the room but slowly getting used to it. Im using the Telewest broadband feed for TV atm however planning on fitting a Freeview aerial soon.

The main reason I got this was to watch movies via the PC and play games.
Connected up to the PC via VGA (profigold) cable and set the resolutions for optimum performance, was blown away by the quality! Played my own DVDrip and the quality produced was superb! even the lower bit-rate movies play nicely on this TV.

Then I fired up a proper DVD (Blade) via PowerDVD software again very impressed with the picture quality!Awsome! :D

Still messing about with the settings via the PC and the TV... couple of pics...

Bit of a crappy picture but you get the idea... Thats PIP from on PC input. On the actual TV input you can get the choice of better screen setups. However the option for alternative screen setups is grayed out when using PC input.

Need to experiment a bit more :) The vids a DVDrip from PC...

Its for a digital signal that'll be used a lot more in the future, it can send video and audio down one cable too instead of having lots of different connectors. Things like upscaling dvd players use it to get a good picture and things like SKY HD will make use of it.

Ive got my 26" Sammy ages ago, but out of curiosity, i looked in the electricals section of Selfridges in Brum, and they had all the models of the sammy in. But, for some reason, the bottom model's image was pin sharp, so was the 32" one, and the one above that. But the 26" one was very very blurry. Odd.

Strange, you would expect the 26" to be sharper than the 32" due to the physical size of the picture elements.

do any of you guys have problems displaying red text on it??

Red text on this and other forums blurs. wondering if its a firmware thing.

I too have the same problem when using the VGA input. It really hurts my eyes after looking at it for a long time. I'm using the latest firmware though.
