My new Samsung 26" LCD

Mike, no problems with my eyes using it, did find it was initially very bright so dimmed it down quite a lot. guessing you have checked the brightness and contrast settings (tellin how to suck eggs time)

-AnthraX- how do you put it into hd when using vga?
is it summat i am missing??

Cheers

also has anyone got a dvd player with hdmi output hooked upto one of these screens yet??

I am thinking of getting either the samsung HD-850 which is silver or the hd-950 which i like just cause its black with a white display lol.

Datamonkey, read my posts earlier in this thread:

Had a 26" ( before it was nicked) connected to HD850 thru hdmi. Absolutely stunning especially with a recent film like Star Wars Episode III, the colours were just stunning, and with Sin City (on import) even through the scart connection, it looked brilliant.

I personally think if you are paying around £700 for this tv ( or more for its bigger brother) you should really buy an upscaling dvd player to do it justice.

Have found out today the company I work for has a supplier selling the 32" for £760 - not sure if its the "D" version though, just waiting for Insurance to come thru before I get replacement.

Does anyone know if the Samsung HD-950 comes in silver?
Ive been considering getting a upscaling DVD player for mine, and the 950's ability to play DivX, means i could get rid of my Yamada.

Hi guys :)

Trolled through this thread and thanks all for the infor about a soon to be bought TV :)

How is the telly for static images like pictures or using photoshop?

:)

Have you ever used a LCD monitor for your computer?

Well i have mine side by side, and I see no difference in quality, everything is crisp and clear, NO fuzzyness at all.

My 360 was not in stock so I cant use the HD connections yet, but I am thinking abou getting a DVi - HDMI connector so that I can Picture in Picture Component and HDMI.

An upscaling DVD player is a must you say? Can you link me to one that you think is the best for the job?

A few more pics of mine, its playing madagascar hd trailer as a second monitor.

I also use a samsung hd950 upscaling player.

Some great picture there bobbyboy uk, you have a great and tiddy set up there and its making me just as jealous as the screen is heheh.

I have found a place online, which also have big department store which is basicaly a man's name, and if you live in the south wales area there is a pie company with the same name lol :D

Anyways in this place I have found the price for the 26" sammy (dont think it has freeview though) for £795 but before you start saying "omg you can get the 32" sammy for that... "

This place offers "Free years 5 Guarantee" I know you can get the TV cheaper other places and get a 3 year Guarantee for say £150 - £180 but then thats basicaly getting to the same price but 2 Years less Guarantee.

I dont know if they would price match instore to competitivtors and the distance is a good 2 hours drive from where i am to the nearest store, so I'll have to give them a phone call maybe and if they price match and the 5 years Guarantee is still in place then I think I would have found a bargain :D

What's the delivery time at the 5 year place? We've just ordered the panny 32" 500 from them for 1750 inc 5 year (only just found that they do the pricematch...nevermind!).

Did you order online / over the phone or instore ?

If you ordered online or over the phone you could probable cancle or return with the "distance sales act" and go in store for a price match, but unless your saving quite abit, it may not be the best thing to do.

As for delivery times I can't make out what it would be it gives 14 day standard delivery and 5 day and next day.

Noooooooooooooooo! I was just looking to see if it gave delivery details on the Sammy 26" and its now been taken off there site as the link I had takes me to some other page, also its not showing up when I try looking for it on there listings

Bugger. Well - the dvd combi is 5 day and the TV is 14 day. I doubt the tv will take that long as it shows as in stock.

Ordered online btw. We have the stand and ixos cables anyway :p.

Im not to worried at the moment as I dont really have the cash to buy it hehehe, im slowly getting there though as im selling a lot of things that are not used and I dont need around the house, I've made around £230-£240 so far hehe.

I still got a lot of things that i can probably sell, like PS2 games PC games some more PC hardware amonst other things.

Question

Is it possible to hook up this 26" sammy to my PC's Creative 5100/5300 (can't remember which it is "doh!") 5.1 surround sound speakers.

I should imagine that i could use the connections at the back of the sub same as the PC ? but is there some sort of connection i could buy to keep them both connected as im planning on using the sammy as a PC monitor and TV also DVD and maybe a xbox 360 (hmm loads of saving i need to do lol)

cheers

The place beginning with W has them in stock. I've been on a waiting list since the start of the month, and they said they'd give me a call as soon as they came in. I called on the 1st, and was 13th on the list. There will be drop-outs sccording to the guy I spoke too (so far with my dealings they have been fantastic! Great CS) but I'm not so convinced as the Sammys are getting very rare.

Anyway, got the call around 10am this morning, and they had 26 in stock. So call now if you want to get your hands on one!

I ordered a HD850 at the same time from another company for only £83.90 delivered. They both should turn up on Monday! Shame my xbox360 isn't due until Feb, and my PC is still a work in progress, so no HD gaming for me until early Jan :(
