that looks like one sweet set up, how big are each screen? What amp/speaker are they?

just got the samsung hd-950 from richersounds for £129 nto a bad price considering i got it off the high street. Quality dvd player, and i love it in black, goes better with the tv i think than all this silver stuff going around at the moment.

Is that the place W... E...?

:)

Nah, just a W..... and I think the name of an Australian Town! If you have a look in AVforums for the LE32 and LE26 they get mentioned a lot...

If they're not a competitor, can you tell me where? Im interested in the HD850 myself. :)

I think they would be classed as a competitor, but if you search google.co.uk for the HD850 (just that in the search) they're listed in Kelkoo.

And if any of the above is breaking the forum rules, delete away Dons!

Update on my dodgy connection panel for those that care :)

Phoned Samsung and asked about it and they said that it's not normal for them to be nearly flush with the back of the TV and they told to phone the retailer <competitor?>

Phoned <competitor?> and they said that they know of the problem relating to a small number of Samsung TV's. They had been stripped by Samsung as some routine QA assesment. Unfortunately a batch weren't put back together properly

They are doing a same day swap for me as soon as they get more stock :D

From everything I've heard (well, read) on the AVforums, it is worth the outlay. I orginally wasn't going to bother as I've got an xbox360 on order, but as the DVD player on that a) only upscales to 480p and b) has average to below par IQ, I revised the plan and ordered one today. Plus I love the minimalistic design of the player.

Come Monday I'll be able to give you an exact review with some choice DVD's (i.e. Sith, LOTR's...).

The only negative aspect I've read is that the white LED display is very very bright. But as this can be turned off its a minor quibble.

Its definately missing a HDMI port, which I'd consider kinda essential with the coming of HD, and the speaker system is inferior. Not sure about the rest of the specs. If I'm very bored I may take a closer look. There is another thread on the 27" though...

The 27" has a DVI-HDCP port so is perfectly compatible with forthcoming protected HD transmitions...(a HDMI-DVI adaptor may be neccesary for £10 - which is lossless so the quality stays identical to HDMI). Therefore HDMI isn't essential at all. The requirement for HD ready is a HDMI port OR a DVI-HDCP port. Both give identical quality pictures.

The only down side is that DVI doesn't carry audio aswell (like HDMI) so you have to wire it up seperatly. The only other drawback is the sound system in it... it's not quite as good, as seether1 mentioned, but not exactly rubbish i must say. I could barley tell the difference myself. However a lot will wire their speakers up seperatly anyway, so neither of these drawbacks are really "drawbacks" at all.

The screen technology is identical to the LE26R41 series.

Personally I think the 27" is a better as you gain an inch, and as i wire sound up seperatly anyway i loose absolutally nothing.

That I did know, but its all down to what you consider important. I had a Philips 23" with a HDCP compliant DVI port, but to me HDMI is more desirable. But as you said, if you wire sound to a receiver, its not a problem.
I actually prefer the looks of the 26" though, and I will be requiring the Freeview aspect as its going in a bedroom with no Sky.

Why isn't the 27" being more agressively sold over here? I know its a euro model, but its specs/price point are rather excellent - If I'd know about it I would have got that over the Philips 23" I bought last month (now sold to make way for the 26" Sammy)
