My new Samsung 26" LCD

Not sure I get you? But if you mean do they come with a VGA cable. Then no they don't.

Yeah, thats what I meant.

Do electrical retailers sell VGA cables then? I'd like to use it on my PC. My graphics is a DVI connection however...Does this make any difference?

Has anyone seen the Xbox 360 demo units with these samsung displays, either samsun make a smaller screen than the 26" one or 26" LCD TV's look tiny!! I thoght theyd be a lot bigger, im definately guna have to go to some stores to demo out screens when i get the money for one.

I think you will find that Microsoft are using the 23" screen for their displays. I dont actually think it looks that small personally, I think it would be perfect for a bedroom :)

I have seen 23" BDX's and to me they do look a lil small as well, but thats in a showroom with much larger screens all around, I think that has an unconcious affect to be honest.

the extra 3" dont seem much but when using it as a monitor especially i personally think its about perfect in size. Depending on the size of your living room and how good your eyes are will make the decision on if you need a bigger screen for this purpose.

edit ... I am used to watching a 42" rear projection set from around 10 foot away,so the drop in screen size should have been a lot more evident - I would guess - even though I was watching my sammy from a lot closer--jus for your comparison i thought this might be helpful

My Sammy 26" and the HD850 HDMI upscaling DVD player came today - and I'm generally chuffed with the result. The TV is fantastic, a vast improvement on the 23" HD Philips I had. The higher contrast ratio makes a huge difference. Even the Freeview picture is pretty good!

The DVD player feels a bit flimsy in build quality. The brushed aluminium front is little more than a veneer. Saying that though, it does look good once its in place. Easy to set up and configure to upscale it seems to have non of the issues I've seen reported elsewhere (mainly the "audio is not supported through HDMI" message people seem to have, forcing them to turn off the OSD) and the display is a green LCD rather than the white on the 950. Its also not too bright a display as is the issue for some on the 950.
So - do I notice the difference upscaling makes on a DVD? Yes and no. It depends on the source material. Episode 3/Sith looks very very sharp, with seemingly more detail everywhere, the colours more vivid somehow. But put in a lower quality recording such as the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, and it makes zero difference to my eyes.
I'll be trying it out with a couple more films to see if I can definitively say if its worth getting it or just a good quality progressive scan DVD player.
The divx playback is brilliant though! Never thought I'd use it, but the playback quality is pretty good!

Now the one issue I seem to be having. As they are both Samsung products I used the DVD remote to control the TV, and ever since I'm unable to use the TV remote apart from volume control. Really puzzled by this. I think Samsung CS will be getting a call tomorrow if I can't figure this out...

So the HD-850 does do DivX?
Ive been thinking of buying a HD-850 myself.
I'll await your final conclusion on it. :)

Do you mind testing it via componet please?
I'd use HDMI, but i'd be needing about 3m of cabling, and that'd cost me a fortune.

Not wanting anyone to divulge a competitor name but does anyone know if the LE26M51B is online anywhere at under £799.00? Just seeking confirmation before giving in the search and putting a dent in my bank balance lol! :)

I paid full wack and got it for £800. Pick up tomorrow. Woop!

am I right in thinking this place would be the word that describes a Indian food like a Tikka Masala (tikka masala was actualy "invented" in the UK hehe) ?

If so I also got them to get there price down to £750 but I have not bought it as I dont have the funds right now, nor do I really want to pay £110 more than I can get it from over a net based site.

Big difference!

The M models are very rare atm, and the 26" does appear to be available from only 2 online places atm, for £799 minimum.
