My new Samsung 26" LCD

Just phoned them up and spoke to a delightfully politeful woman, and I got the update arranged to be sent out to me.

Takes 2 business days for the technical department to phone me back with more information on it, but this issue should be fixed soon.

Thanks to all

Is this update (cable and CD i presume) something that could be forwarded on to other people here?

Sorry for not getting back sooner, totally forgot about this thread :)

I ended up paying £669 for the LE26R41BD just to get it in before Christmas.

As for the recall its just the R51 model as mentioned in that AVForums thread. This is the one sold mainly by Dixons Stores Group and the odd retailer here and there who have manged to get a hold of it. The R41 doesnt have any recall on it. ;)

Just wondered Hows the quality? Ive just ordered it and wanted to know what the quality is like and if you would recomend it, Thats how much mine cost and they said it should be here before the 12th Jan. If its possible would you upload some images, or anyone with the LE26R41BD model, it would be greatly appreciated

Ive been looking into buying a HDTV and have settled on this Samsung but the contrast ratio looks too low, does it wash out if you play it in a bright room?. Other Samusngs have 1500:1 or 2000:1 ratios, HIGHER is better. Also, it does not list the refresh rate, you want 12ms or LOWER at the very least for video games. also how does the LE26R41B look when viewing Sky?. need some feedback.

Totally - if anyone needs it after its done, then just give me a shout and I'll mail it soon as possible (quicker than Samsung ;)), also yes it is cd and cable, although I'm unsure of the particular cable. Possibly USB to the hole named Service on the back. I hope it is not serial cable as my laptop doesn't have one and my main pc is buggered at the minute.

can anyone tell me where i can get hold of one of these bad boys ? really really really want one but i cant for the life of me find anywhere that has stock as a decent price. Obviously no competitors

I'd be interested in having it next.

Let me know how you get on with it etc, but i have a feeling it's going to be a serial cable. I think i read info to that effect on the avforums.

Do you know how to check what version you LCD is? Again, i remember reading how somewhere else but can't recall now.

For the LE26R4 and R5 models, the contrast ratio in the product brochure is 800:1 and with dynamic contrast this figure becomes 3000:1. The same figures apply to the LE32R4 and R5 models. I believe the unit has a response time of 12ms but I am going by the information given on the various sites selling this unit.

I hope that long list of images isn't against the rules, couldn't see anything about it just now unless the list is classed as spamming, hehe

Sorry if there are too many images, they're around 3-4 kb each but if there are too many, Mods, feel free to remove some, cheers

thx for the pics, what settings do you use?, brightness, sharpness etc..

I don't have any fixed settings which I keep the TV on as I have to adjust them each time I change the source :(
Those pictures were taken in
Mode: Standard
Brightness around 55 and contrast at 72
Sharpness: 42
Colour: 32
Colour Tone: Normal

I'm watching the freeview source and currently have the same settings but with contrast dropped to 63, brightness at 52 with colour tone down to 30, The Simpsons was looking too vivid for my liking :)

in pic 22120 is that a hdmi behind that purple s video cable? EDIT: whoops my bad for not seeing pic no 4
whats the connection on the side about though?

The side connector is some sort of serial jobby don't know what that's for. Above it there's a CAM slot for a top up tv card :)

Neither seem to be mentioned in the manual I've got o.0
