My new Samsung 26" LCD

well I've now found out (the hard way) that the samsung europeon version (LE23T51B) isn't compatible with the X360, atleast via component anyway. Seems it doesn't display it properly at HD signals or via scart major blurring and ghosting, shadows on texts etc, yet works fine on the LE23R41B! Seems its not bound to the 23" models either, as another poster on these forums reported it when he tried his on 3 27" LE27T51B's in a store, all with the same problem

I will give samsung a ring and see if they are aware of the problem, and if their is a way to fix this as i thought component was a universal standard throughout europe.. ah well, if not its going back for a refund

Right just wondering anyone else who runs PGR3 get the jaggies on this TV, i've heard of them but yours who posted the images looks really smooth?

Although when people put a normal PS2, xbox or gamecube on whats the quality like because mines worse than CRT cos all text is blurry etc...I can only put this down to a HD res trying to downscale...like watching a DVD on a pc dont look as good as on a TV. Any ideas?

If you are referring to the pics I posted. The in-game ones appear smooth as the detail has been lost somewhere along line, probably due to not having cropped the picture but just resizing the entire image, in-game jaggies are present and look just like in this pic: http://img502.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img22747bk.jpg

The TV has a 'native' resolution of 1366 x 768. When you feed it a low resolution source such as PS2, Standard Definition TV ie. freeview or DVD which are upscaled to stretch and fit the screen, you get the blurring as there isn't the 1:1 pixel mapping you would get when plugging your PC in. :)

Strange, I get no ghosting or bluring on my LE27T51B with my 360. I have a LE32R41B in the front room and it's pretty much identical.

What component cable are you using? The official microsoft one?

Yeah official cable thats been tested on another TV and its perfect, Samsung sent a contractor engineer out who agreed its definately not working, so i'm sending it back for a refund and just getting a normal PC monitor and a VGA cable instead. As SD signals still look too poor on LCD for me at the moment, so a LCD TV is useless to me, might as well get a decent CRT 28" widescreen for me bedroom to watch normal TV for now.

Well I suppose the positive thing is that it's "not working" rather than the entire T range having knackered component inputs.

The reason I asked about the component cable was cause a guy on AV forums was slagging of Samsungs saying how picture quality was terrible. Turns out he had a Joytech component cable which was giving a horrible picture.

yeah...thats what Im thinking. Do you use it for desktop aps as well?

Just that I'm looking to upgrade monitor soon and a 26" sammy looks the business for gaming...

What are the tvs actual screensize dimensions, height + width??

Thanks

Quoted from the LE26R41Bs Manual:
Code:
Dimension (W x D x H)
Body:
662.0 x 94.0 x 497.8 mm
(26.06 x 3.70 x 19.598 inches)

With Stand:
662.0 x 206.0 x 539.0 mm
(26.06 x 8.11 x 21.22 inches)

:)

We got the 32" version on Friday! It really is an awsome screen for the cash!! Here's a few Xbox 360 shots :D

thanks lightbulb, but I was after the actual screensize......:)

sorry boss, just got the ol' tape measure out and its around 580mm x 325mm. Diagonally its 660mm, if I've measured it correctly, can't be bothered to test out my Pythagoras atm :P

hth :)

Thanks lightbulb...I don't want no trouble...;)

Saw xbox 360 on the 32 version last night. Looks fantastic, could do with some anti-aliasing but it's still very early days

really annoyed now, the people I had to go thru for my insurance ( including the Sammy 26" that I had nicked) cant supply any smaller sammy lcd's than the 40" so instead I chose a 26" LG , has quite a few inputs including DVI and HDMI, RGB scart and componant

No camera to post pics, but will let you know what I think when I have tested it fully

Hope you get everything sorted FrankJH!

Personally after using the 26" of this tv, I have realised that I want a bigger screen and am now looking for a 50-56" screen, preferrably a dlp rear pro.

Im gonna head up to my local huge store of all things technical and see what they have on offer, although I doubt if they have anything to write home about except the prices.

I'm quite interested in this model: http://samsung.com/Products/TV/DLPTV/HLR5087WXXAA.asp so we'll see how it goes.

Just remember with rear pro sets you have to get new lamps every few years, but they are a reasonable choice for the money

I know what you mean about the size though, I personally would see what 40" LCD's are going for they should be about same price as rear pro 50 ", I know yur giving away 10", but to my mind would be worth it

GGood luck to you too

Hi can anybody with LE32R41B/BD's please post a side on picture of the connection panel so that i can see how far the connectors come out from the plastic. I have received my set this morning and have a problem with the connectors being set back making the componenet connections flush with the plastic, the audio connections are fine but everything else is set back. If you have had this problem could you tell me if you resolved it without getting it sent back to be repaired.

Thanks

is it only me not getting mine delivered, i ordered my samsung on 27th december and it was supposed to be here on 17th january, i phoned to ask why they hadnt delivered it and they said there were delays and that it would be her on 16th of february, im pretty dissapointed at the moment but im sure when it comes ill be glad i waited and not choose a different LCD. just seems like im waiting forever
