What dont you like about the LG?

According to the AV Forum podcast there are some new sammy's on the way.

Read the whole thread just to make sure and just placed my order. £480 is a true bargain, like i said electrical retailers have these up for £799 in store.
Went into ***** yesterday and they had the sammy and the lg side by side showing hd feed, the sammy showed better colours definition especially in a rock/water scene i saw but in some screens the lg looked better, I think the only thing held me back a bit was the sammy only has pixel mapping on the vga lead so you cant use a dvi for pc connection without blurring, but for £480 I dont mind using a vga lead :)

Also could someone just verify that if this tv was to be used on a pc with the coming windows vista and I wanted to display hdcp content would it do so through the vga lead connection??, if I hooked up via vga gpu (on the upcoming next gen hdcp cards) to vga input??

thanks guys,

Just wanted to check something with other users about the software update. Can't remember when it came out (a fair few months ago) but I lost the info section in the top right corner of the guide. The blue progress bar didn't work and the programme info wasn't there. I just went back to the older software and it works fine again.

Did this happen to anybody else or did my new software just not download and install properly?

A few people on here thought the LG was great when it first came out which is why I got it ( as Sammy wasnt available at the time)

I am getting used to the LG, I just think that there are some quirks with it - ie occasionally I have found the tv "losing" the right picture format , ie going from widescreen to fullscreen momentarily before flicking back, the input selection seems to be manual when on the sammy lets say if you turned on a dvd player it would automatically turn tv channel over, and I dont personally think that the screen is as good with normal (digital) tv or dvd's, not as immeersive but maybe thats just me initially being stunned with the upscaling Sammy and becoming used to it for the LG

I just feel there are little things missing with the LG that Samsung got spot on with these particular models - also the fact the 32" screeens are such a bargain is also tempting me.

VGA doesn't carry HDCP encrypted signals, only DVI and HDMI. You will need a digital to analogue - DVI to VGA convertor that can handle HDCP which is a few hundred £ atm.

There was a new update to the freeview tuner built into the display. The newer one removed features such as the info, progress bar, category highlighting and other stuff to speed up the Guide browsing.

Ah right, wasn't just me then :) I went back to the old version as I prefered having the features. Don't really think it's all that slow :/

ARRGGH, been stitched right up by freemans ( explained in the hdtv recommendations thread), wish I got the lg now... actually if i ever find my £600 gone from my account i think i will definately get the lg now ive read about the hdcp...

There are so many variations of these Sammy TV's I have no idea which is better or at least better suited for PC use.

I'm looking at getting a 23' or 26' one but there is more than one of each. I fancy one of the screens that Microsoft use for their Xbox 360 display units, does anyone know the product number for this screen and/or confirm it's suitability for PC usage? Thanks all!

For the 26" range.
:)

Quick correction :)

LE26R41BD/X - 26" with digital (Freeview) tuner built in and analogue tuner
LE26R41B - 26" analogue tuner only

LE26R51BD/X - 26" with digital (Freeview) tuner built in and analogue tuner, looks like the 23" used on Xbox 360 demo pods.
LE26R51B - 26" analogue tuner only, again, looks like the 23" on the Xbox 360 demo pods

According to a query to Samsung regarding the differences between the R51 and R41 models, made by someone on AVForums, there is only a cosmetic difference between the displays. :)

The ones ive seen have been the 23'' version of the LE26R51B,, LE23R51B

lol I had the same problem with all the model numbers, basically the ones with d/x on the end have freeview, any of the sets would be great for 360
