My new Samsung 26" LCD

I got my 26" version last week. I think its an excellent TV for the price and the connection options are great.

One thing Im not too happy about is that the black surround is an absolute dust magnet - pretty much have to wipe it every day with the provided cloth.

All in all a fantastic screen.

update on my catalogue order...

noticed on other forums people saying their order has been cancelled due to lack of accoutn credit to supply the samsung...

phoned freemans, got them to investigate my account credit and yep, credit limit £200... so they would have cancelled as soon as it came into stock (the woman didnt understand why the system had let me place the order to begin with..)

so i paid off the difference there and then on my card. and there is a webnote n my accoutn stating the 24th March... ooohh i have tinglies!!

basically if i dont get it, or confirmatrion its about to ship before tuesday next week im gonna re-order the one without freeview!

Sammy arrived this morning 3 days since ordering, very impressed with the quality im using it now :) one minor annoyance though is when the resolution is set to max 1360x768 then there is a slight blur on text running vertically down the screen in places, when set to 1280x720 then its very clear, just i would have preffered to use the higher res :( is this normal,, thanks

No this is not. I have mine running at the full res and dont have any blurring issues.

The res you have to use is 1360 x 768 and then use the PC setup menu on the tv to auto adjust the display. This provides 1:1 pixel mapping. ATM you do not have 1:1 pixel mapping and so you are seeing the moire effect. :)

Thanks mate, found the auto adjust and now the picture has gone from good to amazing, next to my 19'' tft this looks the clearer display now:) I really should start reading the manuals things come with..

EDIT,, sorry one more question....is 1:1 pixel mapping an option in the menu, as i cant see it anywhere or does it apply it automatically in auto adjust???

thanks.

Stopppppppp tempting me ( esp with 32" version)

a big highstreet shop is advertising in today's newspapers regarding Sammy's in limited stock, price looks pretty reasonable also ( 32" is competing with most websites I have seen)

I'm about to order the Sammy 26" tomorrow/sat - I've had one before and it went faulty but It's a great screen, getting it for £550 which is around £80 cheaper than when I originally got one! Here is a pic of it when I originall had it!

On your CD rack at the bottom, is the 'The Darkness - Permission To Land' & 'Daft Punk - Homework' i see near the top?

Straight from the depths of Middle Earth. Its the 26" Version. Is anyone elses not really loud when you connect a 3.5mm audio cable from the TV to the PC Soundcard?

Thanks for the pix Androo, can you tell us about the screen, is it as good as we all hope and dream? Anything you particularly like or dislike about it?

To be honest, I wasnt 100% sure about it at the begining as I originally bought a 26" Panasonic Veira. However, given that the Panasonic died after two days (and the new version was £200-£300 more expensive), I decided on the Samsung. The TV was not only cheaper but also has better connection options, namely the VGA socket.

Only thing that isnt quite as good is the freeview reception. But thats probably the indoor ariel (I did get better reception from the Panasonic with the same ariel though).

Oh and I've got my Sammy 26" (above) coming on tuesday for £553! Bought Oblivion for the 360 to see it running in true HD glory! I'm leaving it sealed until I get it :) Got something to look forward to after a pretty bad few months! :D

Have you tried it through your PC yet?

The LOTR game in the pictures is running on the PC. Oh and Spikey, Oblivion looks really good as well on the 360 with this screen. Im happy with it:)
