My new Samsung 26" LCD

OK, ive got my sammy hooked up via vga from my 6800gt gpu card and very pleased with the image quality, but im thinking of upgrading my card and all new cards dont have a vga output they only have 2 dvi outputs on the back of them,, so would a dvi to vga converter be ok to feed the sammy or will I loose quality?? The only other way of doing it is with a dvi to hdmi converter but then i would loose the pixel mapping???

What do I do

thanks

Im pretty sure that cards with 2 DVI connections also come with a DVI to VGA converter so you should be fine with hooking your screen up to any DVI only Cards. And you should not lose any quality either

When I had my original Sammy 26" I hooked it up to a 7800GT using a vga cable and a dvi- vga on the card end ( not sure if due to type of signal if its worth tranmitting digitally over dvi cable and having dvi-vga at tv end) but Serious Sam II especially looked incredible, and Crash and SW Ep III both looked wonderful on DVD thru HDMI ( and yes both my 7800 and newer 1900XT both came with two converters)

Hey Boom, long time mate! Yeah it's The Darkness, and near the top isss..."Trapt"
Ive been trying to remember where i know you from....
I recognise the name...

Which Trapt album is that? The one with 'Echo' on it is pretty good. Can't remember the name though. The Darkness's' first album is a good laugh as well. :)

You helped me out getting this TV originally (before it bust and I spent money on other things). Echo yeah, quality album, cost the g/f about £20 but I'm a fussy guy! :p

EDIT,, sorry one more question....is 1:1 pixel mapping an option in the menu, as i cant see it anywhere or does it apply it automatically in auto adjust???

thanks.

Glad you got the image sorted! The 1:1 pixel mapping isn't an option as such but can be achieved by using the correct resolution and running the auto setup :)

Is anyone elses not really loud when you connect a 3.5mm audio cable from the TV to the PC Soundcard?

I find the volume output from my PC is OK and that I can leave the TV's volume at the same level as I was watching the freeview content, which is usually around 8-15 depending on the channel's output.

Are you using the line level output on the soundcard? If so that might be the reason, other than that all I can suggest is to:

check the volume levels on the PC;
try another soundcard/computer
or a different cable incase the current one is busted and only sending one channel of audio.

hth :)

I just helped my mate set up his Samsung LE32R51BD and DVDHD850 which uses the HDMI connection, the picture quality from DVD's is quite simply astounding.
Will try and get some pics early next week.

I have seen seperate boxes - phillips to name one stb for one - that was a lot worse than the inbuilt tuner, I found it to be very good even on weaker channels.

The screen feels huge, taking some getting used to but it's so damn good, would highly recommend this TV. Shame my first one went wrong (dead pixel appeared after an hours use and it overheated) but It's been worth the wait again (had to pay car insurance)!

TRIED&TESTED,
sorry for the caps mate, just trying to get your attention :) Got my new sammy up and running and used the fix you posted earlier to widescreen bf2 and it looks awesome,, just wondering if you know how to enable special forces to widescreen aswell?? searched for an hour and found no mention of SF with widescreen and doing the same fix as bf2 doesnt work unless im doing it wrong  ...all the euro force maps are fine as they fire up with the bf2 vanilla shortcut but special forces is a seperate Icon..

BTW thanks for all the info on the sammy, I was going for the lg but glad I got this one, £480 :D In fact I dont use my 19''tft now as this is so good as a monitor, :)

Got my attention! :)

This is the shortcut i use for SF...

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/xpack +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1360 +szy 768

Which seems to do the job nicely for me here. Give it a go and lemme know.

£480 is a bargain mate..nicely done. Paid over £100 more than that for mine. Like you say though; well worth it!
