BTW thanks for all the info on the sammy, I was going for the lg but glad I got this one, £480 :D In fact I dont use my 19''tft now as this is so good as a monitor, :)

Hey Turtle, that wasnt by any chance a 1 off 20% discount? ;) I managed to score my LE32R41B sammy for £620 a while back that way.

Thanks mate that works a treat,, :) BTW what fps are you getting in bf2 with your XT, im thinking of going for an XTX, at the moment have 6800gt's in sli and with 4aa, no AF and all max settings im holding around 40fps which can be a little stuttery in the background rendering at times, I would love to be in the 50-60's if possible. Also its not possible to output dual screens in sli mode which is a bit annoying..

THANKS again,,

My new Sammy 32" has just arrived and it looks fab!!!

Have to sort out the brightness because the glare on taillights in RR6 thru componant looks too much, and the shadows sometimes look too dark - if ya see what I mean - but sooooooo glad I got this set, just have to sell my 26" LG to compensate!!!

Man.. such a tough decision.

I definitely want a new HDTV, sort of future proof as i cant waste the money with upgrading again soon.

It has to look great for PC and xbox 360 use. Normal television is not a worry as i dont watch normal telly a great deal.

So, do i go for the LG 26LX2R.. which ive been following for some time, or one of these Samsungs.. although i thought the sammies were cheaper.. but it appears they arnt really? Looking through kelkoo.

Here are some pics I took. Sorry for the poor quality I used my mobile phone to take these as I dont have a proper digital camera.

Eve Online looks great!

Hello

Ive just purchased one of these tellys. 2 Problems im having is:

I can only get 1360x768 so there’s four lines of pixels each side which isn’t being used. Does any one know how to get my 1800xt to run 1368x768?

Also

The colour is very colourful. When I adjust the contrast it just makes things darker it don’t cool the colours down....

Any help would be great. Other that that its perfect:)

Cheers

From Lightbulb's post on the previous page :

The res you have to use is 1360 x 768 and then use the PC setup menu on the tv to auto adjust the display. This provides 1:1 pixel mapping. ATM you do not have 1:1 pixel mapping and so you are seeing the moire effect.

Not sure about the colours just going to play with mine now to adjust the look of the X360 brightness

Right well, now.. GordyR would know this so hopefully he will see but..

What does this Samsung miss out on compared to the LG.

Samsung LE26R41B : £480

LG 26LX2R : £600~

I know the Samsung has reduced viewing angle, brightness and contrast. But these things i dont consider to be worth the extra £120, however if one has extra connections that the other doesnt might warrant the cost if one is better suited to the future devices. Also the difference between the LE26R41B and LE26R41BD? only the freeview?

When I was researching 26" displays before I made my choice, I was comparing these two displays like many others on this thread.

The LG is a superior set but the price reflects this. It has two digital inputs, DVI and HDMI, both supporting HDCP, wheras the Samsung has a digital in the form of HDMI and an analogue VGA input. The 26LX2R has a 1200:1 contrast ratio compared to the Samsung's 800:1. The brightness on the LG is 100 cd/m2 greater at 600 cd/m2. The LG's response time is 8ms grey to grey, compared to the Samsung's 12ms but unknown if this is grey-to-grey so the difference is negligible.

These are the main differences that I looked at and still remember the figures from when I was comparing them lol. In the end I went for the Samsung based on the price as the LG was over £160 more at the time at its cheapest and I would get a Freeview tuner built into the Samsung too.

If price is the most important factor, the Samsung it is. If you are willing to shell out extra, you will get yourself better connectivity for the future with the extra digital input along with a better contrast ratio.

The LE26R41BD has a digital terrestrial tuner built in wheras the non D doesnt.

Cheers muchly. Indeed i have both the specs up of the screens and its tough.. id like the better screen, but whether that extra money warrants the connectivity and other bits.. but i do like the sound of getting 20% off.. so i am swaying towards the Samsung, even after all this time and consideration from GordyR advising me towards the LG.

Thanks.
Didnt see that option.

Im trying to work out how you lot think that outputting to the Sammy at 1360x768 and doing an auto-adjust is a 1:1 pixel map.
Considering its a 1366x768 display, something is gonna have to be stretched, or they'll have to be two thin black bars either side of the picture for it to be 1:1.

Now that I have My Sammy 32" set up I have been able to do side by side testing between this and my 26" LGX2R

There is no question in my mind using the componant input from a Samsung hd850 as well as a Sony 710 dvd/hdd recorder ( both direct input and via a denon home cinema amp with componant switching) that the Samsung looks better with all kinds of dvd's to my mind. The sharpness, the colour accuracy, brightness as well as the overall involvement is so much better - now admittedly I am comparing a 32 to a 26" but I even watched scenes with pieces of paper covering the sides to make it a little fairer, and it just felt better.

My analogue tv reception is awful here ( in London) and I thought it unfair to compare digital TV because the LG doesnt have it built in so I would be comparing the external box of whatever make.

I played a little on my xxbox360 also, and i think this is where the size really hit me as it was so much easier to see everything, but in general I would say they were about even on this score.

Just my 2peneth worth

it's a 1:1 pixel map once the auto-adjust is run as there are two blank columns, 3 pixels in width each, either side of the centred picture.

[edit] the mathematical formula might come across as patronising lol :D
