N95 Release

yeh guys Tmobile are shipping today apparently, I placed an order on the phone and they told me to expect the phone tomorrow. V happy!

Although I ended up paying £174 on Flex 35 (12 Months) which is kind of expensive.

Got a direct quote from o2 on my current tarrif (o2 online 200) and they said the best they can do was keep the same tarrif and the handset for £129

I cant upgrade till end of may though so iv got until then to scrape a better deal out of them.

You can get better, they offered me (as an upgrade through cpw) an N95 for £209, £149 cashback on the same tariff, and they said that by the time the new budget comes out (post 4th April) they would be able to offer a better deal so maybe try again then

You need to write to them comfirming you want to terminate.

As you are past your contract you can cancel at any time. If you request your PAC code, as soon as the number is ported over to your new phone the contract will automatically be terminated. I am in the same position as you, I rang, they told me to write a letter requesting the PAC code.

Remember that you can order a new phone via T mobile and give the PAC code after you have received the handset.

So - Did it arrive? First impressions? And does it come with 2GB MicroSD?

Let me be the first to add these pics!

Quite an ugly 'plum' back colour eh?

Its smaller than I thought, and still havent found the 'on' button yet! :o No Memory card is supplied.

Edit - Ok so first impressions - Its not quite as snappy as the reviews have been saying, it is fast but not 'instant' when switching between items. (I am used to non smartphones). Its a really good size phone and 'feels' the right size in your hand.

Browsing the internet is really easy to use, when you click 'back' or 'forward' a thumbnail of the last pages you were on and existing one pop up and you can choose which to go to.

For those of you worrying about Tmobile branding, dont worry it really is minimal, apart from the logo on the back and the 'web n walk' logo in the menu there is nothing visible.

Video quality is really excellent as is the music player. The Youtube/reuters internet video service is a really cool feature, I hope bbc will add this too.

I have just received my handset via special delivery too :D

I am coming from an N73 and believe me, this N95 is extremely fast and responsive for a smartphone. Mine has come completely unlocked and unbranded, loving it so far.

Although mine has come with no memory card whatsoever :( Just ordered a 2GB micro-sd card for £18 delivered though

I'm on a staff price plan so get unlimited calls, text, mms etc etc so cant really be compared to any standard deals

By the way guys - so far not one bug, its a vast improvement over all the other N series phones - Nokia finally got it sorted. So much for all the pessimists at the beginning of this thread!

How about battery life?

It was released today, do you think we would be in a position to tell you abaout that. Battery life I assume wont be so hot, that isnt a 'Nokia' problem like the bugs were.

Is it Vodafone live branded?
Nope, there is no branding at all. When it first boots up it asks if you want to automatically retreive the required network settings for wap, internet, mms & steaming. So i can now access Vodafone live after downloading the settings 'over the air'. But no branding on the phone or menu system at all. This might be due to me receiving one of the first handsets that came in, they might put some vodafone software and branding on in the coming days, but mine is nice and clean :D

My N95 next to N73 for size comparison

Yes! I expect nothing less than a full report pronto!

How big are the GPS maps that are available to download and can you download them via your PC and then import them?

Only ask as i'm off to Canada soon and i'll need to download the British Columbia and Alberta maps
